I don’t mind at all. And as I wrote that, I was thinking about all of this, so it seems that came through. Thank you for your kind words and for finding hope in my words. That gives me hope.

OH, an expert! And Kahlua, baby! Yeah, I did cold extract for awhile even to take to work. Almost gave up on iced coffee by the end of that. Cheers!

It’s very complex, many layers. I don’t see how any one thing/group can be blamed for a drop in reading/readership. I see a lot of aspects/dynamics, many societal and political. Macro and micro. Group and individual.

I was talking about Scalia but the parallel was not lost on me. Yes, the same is true of Kelly in this recent episode. He said he didn’t care. After being really offensive and hurtful to people. It didn’t really come out of the blue either. I remember when Kelly was friendly. He was mean. [...]

Iced Coffee: I tried a bunch of recipes. It always came out different than the (lying) pictures: namely, cloudy & expensive in most cases. So, I decided to try to duplicate the pictures and I *borrowed* part of my local Starbuck’s method and now I do it this way: fresh, strong (drip) brew poured immediately [...]

Absolutely ~ and he never stops. Just keeps going. Doesn’t care what anyone thinks. Like he’s above it all. Yuk.

And if they blame and kill the shooter they they don’t have to consider gun control OR mental health issues. Plays right into the NRA script.

Hadn’t thought about the parody angle. I blame Scalia, anyway.
C-S, the bloodlust in American political life is really upsetting to me too. It’s really extreme, and moreso all the time. Followed closely by the total lack of empathy.

Lukewarm coffee here, too. 12 hours old is fine. :-)
But I have switched to officially iced coffee. It is Canada, here, you know.
Took me 15 years to figure out how to make it. I can be slow.

The US will be the last to do anything, right behind Canada. Disgraceful.

Mornin’ C-S: I know you ARE a woman of peace, after all, so, yeah, no slugging in the church.

Scalia really is a “problem.” I sense no “with” there …

Well, I think the problem is that “power with” leads to fairness for the 99% ….. and we know how popular that is with those who have a lot of power … :-(
Still, power with at the grassroots is powerful, too!

I believe all the complexity, study, and intellectualism in the religions is about preserving dogma ~ which works against the kind of community that will overturn dogma and bad religion. This keeps the people “without power” and subservient to the “learned” elites. I knew that the guru whose teachings I followed was “the real deal” [...]

Thanks, msmolly! Mornin’ pups!
During an important part of my education we were taught the difference between “power over” and “power with” … in this example the “with” modifies what can be a negative dynamic into a powerful sharing to build the best kind of community. I appreciate this kind of thinking. And it’s true.

I studied an honest-to-goodness real guru’s teachings for awhile. He said the happiest one will ever be is in the experience of being of service to others. Last week I read the Dalai Lama has said this too. So, I assume it is a common spiritual teaching. And it’s true.
