RetAZED commented on the diary post 5 Ways People are Coping With The Recession by cmaukonen.
http ://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/h/henrydavid108303.html My way to cope is to JUST SAY NO TO CHEAP, OUTSOURCED, NEW JUNK as much as possible. Thrift shops are a way to recycle and help local communities. I have my favorite one, supported/run by a wealthy retirement community. I get my shopping fix for a new outfit or some kitchen dodad [...]

This is a great diary and something that more here in the US should know about. I’d like it on FB, but my “friends” don’t want to read so much or think so hard.

RetAZED commented on the diary post Monsanto’s Former Head of Research Teams up with Bill and Melinda Gates. by Robert Alexander Dumas.
Gates thinks he is almost done destroying public education in the US and it’s time for something new to meddle in. Here’s a link about how his influence helped to shape the Common Core School Standards and how he’ll benefit when schoolsbecome all

RetAZED commented on the diary post Giffords, Guns and Glocks by Thomas Philip Davis.
I live in Giffords district. I was in another grocery store just a few miles North of wher she was shot when I looked up and saw the breaking news on TV. In front of me in the check out line was a man in a long coat and a “gun rights” cap. I could [...]

RetAZED commented on the diary post Life in Tucson Arizona, Summer Politics 2011: or How To Whack a Doodle. by Robert Alexander Dumas.
FYI- Tucsson Electric Park is a taxpayer funded baseball park built for Spring Training and AAA ball. We lost Spring Training and almost lost AAA, I think in large part, because the park is not easy to get to. We are now hosting the Tucson Padres (San Diego AAA) and ther’s nothing better on a [...]

RetAZED commented on the diary post Life in Tucson Arizona, Summer Politics 2011: or How To Whack a Doodle. by Robert Alexander Dumas.
The chance for Downtown Tucson’s revival was wasted when Raul Grijalva pushed for Tucson Electric Park to be built between a prison and a mental hospital on the Southside. It is a horrible location with no chance for business growth nearby. He pushed it to help “his” people, ignoring how it could have revitalized downtown [...]

A great blog post that connects the dots from education reform to big profits. Gates can’t wait to get every kid staring at a monitor.

RetAZED commented on the blog post Late Night: John McCain — The Quintessence of Douche
One observation. There are way more Indians (Native Americans) than cowboys in AZ. Unfortunately, like many poor, rural people, they often don’t vote.
I hate John McCain and ask/tell everyone I know that he has done NOTHING for the State of AZ. He brags about no earmarks; but what are earmarks but projects for your State? All he has done for the last decade+ is run for Pres. He only started acted reasonable/bipartisan to get in front of the fact that he was the biggest CROOK in the Keating 5 scandal. He didn’t just take campaign $, Cindy’s family was in business with Keating. Here in AZ, a group that I think is a big problem in electing good people, is the group of wealthier retirees (from other states, perhaps to escape “the blue”). This group always insists on their “senior discounts” , Medicare & SocSc, but never wants to pay taxes because “they’re on a fixed income” you know.
Reminds me of the older Teabaggers on Medicare who protest Obamacare. -
RetAZED commented on the diary post Class Warfare Cuts Both Ways by Richard Lyon.
At one time, I tried to convince myself that Obama’s tries for bipartisanship we’re like Ghandi. I now think he is a R plant and the only thing we can do is live like Ghandi. Eat local, buy second hand (Craig’s list probably does more to stimulate the economy right now-certainly more than tax cuts [...]
