Thank you for writing this. Scarecrow would have been totall engaged with you on this. He was a Jane Austin aficionado, one of the things I remember well about him. I wonder what his comments would have been.

not so sure about that. But it does open the bully conversation again and that’s a good thing.

TPM has a gem of photo captures of front pages in NY and NJ.

    Must see.

in the Jean Anouilh play/film it begins with Henry entering Becket’s tomb to be flogged by several monks. Don’t know what the actual historical detail was in terms of the penance.

So should Christie be flogged? What penance for him?

    He’s so so sad.

    Sad.

HE keeps talking about not having been informed about this. As in “don’t tell me what you are doing, I don’t want to know” is my guess.

“Will no one rid me of this troublesome priest?”

Henry II had nothing to do with the death of Becket. Right?

Correct. I’ve been doing this for 25 years and am ready to re-enter the “civilian” world. Looking to do art and play with color rather than words. Incredibly lucky that Mr. Rev. and I have saved enough to be able to afford to pack it in. How politically involved I plan to be I don’t know. Will be really happy to return to the land of liberals though.

It has been a very long time. Mostly I work and keep a very low profile politically. But this is too juicy to pass up. Living in the Philly area Christie is ever present in our news.

That being said, I will be retiring in June and no longer will have to keep as low a profile so who knows? We’ll be moving back up north where they actually WANT to provide access to health care and marriage to all their citizens. PA sucks when it comes to how they treat people other than the pampering they do to the gas and pharma companies.

You don’t remember how corpulent he was. If you saw before and after pictures side by side you would see a big difference. He looks like he’s lost about 1/3 the weight he had been carrying.

looking forward to seeing what comes out in the various investigations. The NSA/FBI/Big Brother has it all but probably won’t let the investigators have it. Only little guys are prosecuted for anything any more.

I’m guessing that they worked very hard to make sure there were none of Christie’s fingerprints on it.

If you didn’t watch The Daily Show last night . . . it’s a must see.

    “This is not the tone I’ve set . . . .”

This is exactly the tone he has set in NJ since he got there.

Owning up to the mistakes by firing one person and telling another not to apply for a job.

    That’s taking responsibility all right.

We’ve been asking around at local restaurants around here and none of them treat their servers well. Thus the need for the conversations here We can understand a bit better when they are family owned and run—but most of them are not.

    Third item down.

It would be a great opportunity to educate the local population. It is incredibly popular and crowded which is both good and bad.

There is a restaurant festival coming up in West Chester in a couple of weeks where many of the local establishments have food served and sold on the sidewalks. It would be a great opportunity for some of your organizers to have a table and talk with people (and even go from tent to tent to hit up the owners). I’m sure there are opportunities like that all over the country. Is it something you do?
