RichardKanePA commented on the blog post Rep. John Garamendi on Afghanistan: Without a Withdrawal Plan, “There’s Going to Be a Revolt” in Congress
Soon after the Russians left instead of peace there was massive deaths from warlords fighting. If the US leaves under the same circumstances such as the day after the dollar crashes like the stock market did in the last depression, Afghans will try to seize US goods from the departing Americans and if there is any al Qaeda left kidnaper Americans for ransom to turn defeat into absolute victory.
Simply getting the Taliban to agree to a few months or a few years autonomy for Kabul with the Chinese peacekeepers on the borders around the city would prevent 90% of the blood bath. The Taliban doesn’t consider the UN neutral.
Al Qaeda might agree to such an arrangement is weeks sparing any more US drain,

RichardKanePA commented on the diary post Gorilla’s Guides: “An Introduction To Islam” — Part 29 Sufism — Part 2 by GorillasGuides.
Bin Laden was suicide bombing Sufi holy sites during prayer. It that happened to several great cathedrals the world would know it, almost as much as a Holocaust. Awakening Council member who changed sides were after-woods slaughtered by al Qaeda. Al Qaeda with the Awakening Council didn’t even bother with suicide bombing. but the problem [...]

RichardKanePA commented on the diary post I want to find active peace activists, they all seem to be depressed by RichardKanePA.
I have several small suggestions that might loosen the logjam that is blocking peace in Afghanistan. Soon after the Russians left the death rate in Afghanistan went way up from warlords fighting. 1, The Taliban could announce they are appointing Hamid Karzai to be mayor of Kabul, a title he already holds on the joke [...]

RichardKanePA commented on the diary post What can you do about millionaires and billionaires who are robbing us blind? by Liz Berry.
There is an international race for the bottom including in Greece where unions are strong. Every country keeps lowing wages and working conditions to compete better. Every fanatical bailout everywhere the rich get richer. I guess in the long run cannibals will be the only ones left or maybe it isn’t too late for the [...]

RichardKanePA commented on the diary post Beware the Hasbara (propaganda!) by Kris.
The CIA has a michine where one CIA agent can have 50 different blog identities at once. However everyone seems to be in the act except Iran which isn’t allowed to. Events in Libya and the Ivory Coast have an amazing amount of similarity, including France overwhelingly taking the innicative and I think sadly even [...]

I agree we should declare victory and come home.
In case you are interested Afghan President Karzai who came to office trying to get the king back wants peace. If you call Karzai’s comments a stunt than look at this,
http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/karzais-peace-council-seeks-release-taliban-leaders-gitmo_550569.htmlPerhaps he can ask the Taliban to agree to temporary Hong Kong status to Kabul or request the Taliban make him the mayor of Kabul.
I want to celibrate peace. Imagine that somehow all five Navy Seal’s held their fire despite Spanish Police trying to apprehend the masterminds of the Madrid back-pack bombers with percussion garnades.
Come on we don’t have to be depressed,

RichardKanePA wrote a new diary post: I want to find active peace activists, they all seem to be depressed
The world changed May 2, 2011 all because of an unexpected accident and an unexpected decision that followed, if a second unexpected decision followed we would now be in utopia. It would have been, I believe, amazingly good news if all the Navy Seals held their fire. It’s a little surpising that he only had [...]

RichardKanePA wrote a new diary post: The helicopter crash that might save civilization
A lot of good news happened when bin Laden was apprehended, complaining about lack of perfection, I think will lead to less perfection, not more. The US started to turn over a leaf in a better direction. We didn’t coolly play with buttons on a computer screen risking the lives of bin Laden’s [...]

RichardKanePA commented on the diary post In past people negotiated an end to a war by RichardKanePA.
Life is built on precedents. One precedent was the Spanish police trying to arrest the al Qaeda members responsible for the Madrid train bombing with percussion grenades and they blew themselves up taking a police officer with them. Another precedent was Saddam found hiding in the ground after which the medic put a thermometer in [...]

RichardKanePA wrote a new diary post: In past people negotiated an end to a war
Overwhelmingly wars end in negotiations except wars the US fights. France left Algeria without chaos or French equipment being seized despite a totally bitter war. An exception is that the Khmer Rouge just seized Cambodia. Since Hitler’s claim to power was that Germany was sold out by traitors in World War I, no one thought [...]

RichardKanePA commented on the diary post Can Progressives Force A Quicker End To Foreign Wars? by kspopulist.
The question that hasn’t been answered is how to get out. My suggestion is insist as a condition for US withdrawal, temporary autonomy for the area around Kabul. When the USSR left warlords fighting actually drastically increased the killing and dieing. Afghan President Karzai had asked the Saudi’s to mediate toward a peace agreement with [...]

More detail, we need a unilateral drone cease-fire and other peace efforts even gestures, and the Congressional Resolution that not one penny more for Defense spending unless there is a peace effort now. I actually think a July ending funding date will entice al Qaeda to try to bankrupt the US sooner than later my.firedoglake.com/richardkanepa/2011/05/09/peace-movement-get-over-it-peace-is-still-possible [...]

RichardKanePA commented on the diary post Peace Movement Get Over It, Peace is Still Possible by RichardKanePA.
Margo Schulter, maybe you are right. Maybe the world is a better place that President Carter tried to make peace. Maybe an argument or subtle public hassle between the President and one or more Navy Seal would be better. Even that bin Laden wouldn’t have been killed as the Seals eyed each other. But won [...]

Thank you, thank you, thank you. What happened to the rest of the peace movement still stunned by discovering that bin Laden wasn’t mostly smoke and mirrers after all, I oppose capital punishment and don’t blame Obama for the spliat second decission of one Navy Seal. If it was planned the one Seal didn’t tell [...]

RichardKanePA commented on the diary post This World and the World Without War by David Swanson.
Obama had two plans for if bin Laden was taken alive and another if he was killed. One Navy Seal could have decided ahead of time, or they really didn’t plan for tranquilizing guns. Bin Laden in a crowded helicopter could have pushed himself and a Seal out, in the air. A not well tied [...]
