runfastandwin commented on the diary post Making the Innocent Pay for the Crimes of the Elites by masaccio.
Geez if only McCain and Romney had of won we’d all be so much better off. I mean I agree with masaccio but I fail to see how things would be better with the GOP in charge.

runfastandwin commented on the diary post Been underground for so long….. by Eclair.
Littleton huh? I grew up there, it’s ground zero of the Reagan disaster and the 20 years that followed. We were in one of the 13 or 14 districts where the Republicans ran unopposed, although I haven’t been back since 1985 so I have no idea what it’s like now (probably much the same). If [...]

runfastandwin commented on the diary post Thank God for Herman Cain by Scarecrow.
I don’t know how many of you have read the bible, but if you have, recall the bit about the war in heaven where Beelzebub was cast out. My theory is Beelzebub actually won, and cast God out, and has been laughing at us suckers ever since (the bible is his way of making us [...]

runfastandwin commented on the blog post Late Night: The Real Bush Doctrine
Once again, it comes down to what the people who actually vote want, versus the public at large. Voters will win that battle every time, as they should. People who can’t be bothered to vote get the government they deserve. Bush managed to get just enough votes to get himself ensconced in 2000, and again in 2004. Walker got himself elected, it remains to be seen whether enough people care to vote him out or even get a recall on the ballot. I guess the April 5th election will give us an indication, if Prosser loses.

runfastandwin commented on the blog post Gallup: 70% of Americans Think Obama Hasn’t Brought About Enough Change
The problem is, a poll of “Americans” is not the same as a poll of actual voters. Politicians are only going to do what actual voters want them to. They care nothing for “Americans.” And in the last election, the actual voters voted for teabagger and republican candidates and right wing policies. Until the actual voters vote differently, hopefully in 2012, most politicians are going to support teabagger and republican policies. If you want to change the world, the best thing, really the only thing for the average person, you can do is get people to vote.

runfastandwin commented on the blog post Merkley Offers Comprehensive Fix for Mortgage Market, Includes Bankruptcy Reform
I like 2, 3 and 4. The others have absolutely zero chance of becoming law, since those options allow money to go from banks to homeowners.

runfastandwin commented on the blog post Democrats on Selling Obamacare: The Sixth Time’s the Charm
Yeah we know everyone at FDL hates the HCR but no one here seems to have the slightest idea about how to proceed in the real world, as opposed to the world as we wish it was.

runfastandwin commented on the diary post Job-Killing Laws? How About the Entire Tea-GOP Agenda? by Scarecrow.
I don’t think you need to go near their heads, or listen to their speeches, just watch their actions and there is no other conclusion to be made.

runfastandwin commented on the diary post Job-Killing Laws? How About the Entire Tea-GOP Agenda? by Scarecrow.
I am starting to think that the only solution to the problem is to let them take over and destroy the country. Until there is nothing but peasants and an oligarchy, misguided voters will continue to support the GOP.

runfastandwin commented on the blog post New Washington Post/ABC Poll: Americans View Tea Party Less Favorably Than Russia, Socialism
“Americans” is not a reliable poll. The only poll that means anything is the poll of voters, taken on election day. No one cares what “Americans” think.

runfastandwin commented on the diary post War Crimes in Afghanistan? Time To Investigate by Josh Mull.
If you believe Issa will do ANYTHING that puts the military in the slightest bad position, you must also believe in unicorns. He has one goal, and that is to harass the Obama Administration. Anything that falls outside that goal will not be considered. Given that, Obama should take the Bush way out and not [...]

runfastandwin commented on the diary post Yes, Mr. President, We Must Usher More Civility into Our Public Discourse by Jim White.
I’m starting with the man in the mirror. I can’t control what others do, but I can sure control myself. I would like to see Medicare for all, if the President can’t deliver it I will work with the people and organizations I am affiliated with to push for it. I would like to see [...]

runfastandwin commented on the blog post Ending the Filibuster: Strong Support Despite Lacking a Champion
The key issue here is “the regular public.” The only thing these guys care about is half the people who actually vote, plus one. “The regular public” has nothing to do with government.

Of course, words and images cannot influence people to act. That’s why there are no commercials on TV right?

runfastandwin commented on the blog post Chamber of Commerce Appreciates “Tone” of Administration
You are bringing this up to point out that Obama is not very smart and a bad negotiator. But the denouement of the scene proves exactly the opposite. In fact the whole movie sort of validates Obama, he’s more interested in what actually works to get something done.

runfastandwin commented on the blog post Bipartisan Consensus: Democrats Looking for Social Security Changes
Everyone just relax. Once President Palin takes over, SS will be history, then you can argue about whether or not attacking Iran was a good idea.

This insignificant event proves President Obama is “the most cowardly” president ever? Methinks you are off your meds dude.
