That’s what I wondered. After thinking about it, I think you could butterfly it. Pounding would require a sledgehammer, I think. A while back I learned to butterfly stuff from shrimp to lamb legs by watching videos on the web…one of the most helpful was (believe it or not) a vid by Martha Stewart. A [...]

Thanks for the terrific link. I knew about the potato-only blight and that it didn’t really render the potato inedible, but not about the food exports while ignoring the plight of the Irish. A good history lesson with lots of relevance today. If you don’t mind, I think I’ll pass on your link with my [...]

SF Bay Area, so we are definitely blessed when it comes to fresh fruit and vegetables. Looks like the rainstorm has blown by—after a whole week of much-needed rain—so a clear day for the market and a good walk. I’ll report back on the grilling. The recipe says to use the packet of pickling spices [...]

Happy st Patrick’s Day to eCAHN & fire pups! This St Paddy’s Day I thought I’d try grilling my corned beef brisket. It was my husband’s idea. He said his mom used to soak it in milk and then make a bread stuffing and roll it up. I didn’t find a recipe even remotely like [...]

It’s the same issue but without a bunch of women saying men’s health insurance shouldn’t cover it…and making up a bunch of spurious reasons.

Hi, all! You have stronger stomachs than I to watch the clown show again. When I saw the photo at the top my 1st thought was that it was someone ready to jump rather than watch another debate.

rxbusa commented on the blog post Finally, a Character Witness
A fleeting wee-hours fantasy: The scandal goes on and on and finally the Fox News brand is sold in a fire sale to… CurrentTV…who make a slow transition. They replace the anchors with smart blondes and interview pundits who actually recognize shinola. As time goes on they introduce the odd custom of listening to the answers to questions before responding and not yelling over each other. Very gradually they start to introduce topics of relevance to the daily lives of average Americans and credentialled scientists ans scholars to explain and discuss complicated issues of science, history, and culture.
The audience, gullible as they are, believe the blondes without question. Before long, like going on the Pritikin Diet, their whole prognosis has changed.
—And then I woke up. Sigh
