Thank you for posting the link to the Counterpunch article. I listened to the TV report on Hotflash Carol’s link last night, and the police story coming out later about pushing the walls in was nothing like the reporter was describing – which was that the cabin was burning up, and the firemen were being [...]

Koch was named as sponsor of the previous Nova, too. I did not see all of that one, but it was about an extinct megafauna dig near Snowmass. Two things bothered me. One was that the site was discovered as the resort was expanding – and the scientists were under pressure to salvage as much info as they could. I kept thinking: Why can’t the development slow down just a bit if this is such a big deal? The other was that the interpretation of the dig info (marks on stones with the dead beasts) could push back the time of human settlement – and that is a touchy topic with some Native Americans who feel it is an effort to de-legitimize them as the original inhabitants, and the small cultural concessions they have gotten. Didn’t see it all – but that part was not put in context.

RE: Saudi air support: Who really is who anymore? Looks to me like they are us … We train them. We let them destroy the peace and quiet and pollute the air over the public lands of the Western U.S. Boeing sells them the jets to great fanfare. Saudi planes bed down in Idaho, ensuring support of the likes of Crapo and Risch for the war machine – because keeping the federal welfare of big airbases afloat is what keeps any semblance of an economy afloat in western backwaters like Idaho (lowest income level in the nation). The Boeing plane deal cements all the Washington state and other Dems and their ilk cheering things on. So voila – a hybrid/mongrel force where you cannot really tell who is who anymore …

sagesse commented on the blog post Federal Government Consistently Runs out of Money to Fight Fires, Pays for It by Cutting Fire Prevention Programs
I am glad the agencies are moving funds from their so-called fire “prevention” projects —- because these veg manipulation projects often make matters worse.
The Forest Service and BLM should not get funds for nearly all the so-called “fire prevention” projects that they dream up under the guise of “fuels reduction”.
These are often in reality subsidized logging, cattle grazing grass stimulation, and weed spreading pork barrel projects. These agency projects often make fires worse. You thin or deforest areas to “prevent” fires – and what do you get? Hotter, drier, windier sites – also prone to flammable weeds. End result: More fires, not less. This deforestation/ or radical thinning or other “treatment” as the agencies love to call these projects – also typically amplify the adverse impacts of climate change on ecosystems. Through creating hotter, drier, more fire prone sites.

sagesse wrote a new diary post: Occupy Boise Court Injunction: Tents Stay, A Commons Remains, Sleep Deprivation for Now
Occupy Boise has won a partial court victory in maintaining a symbolic tent city on public property on the grounds of the old Ada County Courthouse now controlled by the State of Idaho. An Idaho Statesman news article described the General Assembly/Press Conference held at noon yesterday at the Vigil Site. Walker said the tent city is political expression, [...]

Occupy Boise was in federal court today, seeking a Temporary Restraining Order to protect the Vigil Site and prevent eviction by the state. Idaho Governor Butch Otter issued an edict that the Vigil Site must be vacated by 5 pm Monday. Judge Winmill was in Pocatello, on the other side of the State. Occupy Boise [...]

This all just broke late yesterday afternoon. It involves a female legislative Attache, but she has not been identified yet. When rumors first emerged, it wasn’t known. Here is the latest: Looks like all those State Troopers they had hanging around the Capitol after it was put on lockdown due to leadership paranoia over Occupy [...]

And thanks FDL editors for linking to the Press Conference video. The rot and barbarity in the Leadership in the Idaho Capitol is boiling over. Jeff Siddoway, another of the Senate leaders, is pushing a Bill that passed out of a Senate Committee yesterday – that would allow use of live bait – including dogs [...]

http://youtu.be/CfqMOTBWp5U Idaho Senate Republican Caucus Chairman John McGee finally got his comeuppance yesterday . McGee was one of the proud co-sponsors of the Bill aimed at eviction of Occupy Boise protestors from the Vigil site. But an allegation of sexual harassment on top of his recent DUI conviction forced his resignation from the Idaho Senate. As the Idaho [...]

And fact is – many of these guys dress themselves up in Freedom Talk when it serves them – but I can assure you that is the last thing on their minds. Cronyism for cattlemen, corporations and just downright meanness seems to me to what they are all about.

Well, that theory would comes crashing into brick (or marble) wall when you take a peek at the Idaho Constitution. It has language some think may be even stronger then that of its U.S. granddaddy.

The Idaho House Passed the final version of the Bill to Evict Occupy Boise on Friday afternoon. The Bill did not make it to Governor Butch Otter’s desk by Friday evening. It could be signed any moment. A lawsuit and Motion for a Temporary Restraining Order has been filed in Federal Court by Occupy Boise. [...]

PEW sure seems to be poison to environmental causes – controlling them through sprinkling just enough funding around to get a group addicted … then making sure their thought and message control managers turn the ‘message” and the group into a quivering bowl of jello. And I remember Lubchenko’s lying in the BP Spill. Plume [...]

sagesse commented on the diary post Idaho Legislators Fear Overwhelming Support for Occupy Boise by sagesse.
The Senate fiddled around with amending an amendment today, which they ultimately voted down. It had to do with allowing those awful “indicia” of camping like stoves or tarps to “occupy” state property at college sporting events. They did not vote on the full Bill yet. I’m not sure if the effort to amend an [...]
