I got a great education at Cal State Hayward, and never paid more than $70 a quarter for a full load! Talk about a great deal, and a great deal for California. They produced untold thousands of well-educated workers who mostly stayed in California because it used to be a great place to live, and bolstered the economy. Prop 13 killed the goose that laid the golden eggs in the Golden State.

But a large part of our exports still consists now of stuff we grow. The agricultural industries are always going to be important because people need to eat (or they die, duh). Our current agricultural paradigm is unsustainable, and along with re-fostering manufacturing, we need to change the way we produce food.

I agree with your last statement, but as far as Great Britain faring so well, have you seen their economy lately? And the news reports out of the Isles for 40 years and more have indicated a society slowly spiraling into decay. Not everyone needs a white-collar job. Not everyone can hold one. White collar [...]

It’s not what you say, it’s what you do, and although Obama has signed and supported many good things, his general trend, at least economically, is less for more. Less benefits for more people. Obviously, this means more for less, as the oligarchs consolidate their power.

I see in my crystal ball huge speaking fees for Mr. Obama in the near future, starting, say, January 21, 2013, after he loses the election for his second term by throwing his base under the bus, but gaining his new base, “headquartered” in the Cayman Islands.

But the White House nixed use of the 14th Amendment yesterday. Furthering their long-standing tradition of giving in before beginning.

As a long-time Washington Resident, all I can say is “about time”. Boeing has been a bad actor for many years in dealings with the unions.

“Atlas Shrugged” and “Gone With the Wind” are both about extremely self-involved people who, unfortunately to the people in their wakes, are very competent in achieving their desired goals. At the detriment to others. At least Scarlett got her comeuppance at the end.

As far as the White House not moving to the right, Obama didn’t call out the Profession Right, or call Republicans Sanctimonious Purists.
