I thought I’d ease the tensions for those of you living on the other side of the dateline.  I’t s almost 7:00 in the morning here.  I’ve been up since 5:15 because I wanted to video the planetary alignment before the sun came up.  It’s a beautiful morning.  Still, crisp, patches of cloud float overhead [...]

Tyrants are tyrants so true and we will live with this shame for years to come.

And on your second point. I noticed that too. Awful hairpiece.

Nicely done. I’m a fan. In the words of Woody Guthrie “Some rob you with a six gun, some with a fountain pen.”

  • Thanks for this. There are those in the online community who are currently crowing that bin Laden’s discovery was a direct result of torture. It’s nice to have a cogent argument to refute that claim. Thanks again.

Agreed. We stand in wait armed with sunglasses to protect us from the inevitable blinding reflection of March of the Foil Hats. We know it’s going to happen. Screams from the parade that the long form was fake. Those who claimed Bin Laden has been dead for years will claim he’s alive….he’s alive. The Lightening…”Igor pull the switch. He’s alive. He alive…” Shit. I can’t bear it…

  • Do you remember The Twilight Zone and  Outerlimits?  Probably not, and if you do you won’t admit to it because it will show your age.  You know,  somewhere between Paleolithic and Neolithic. I’m not sure what these words mean but they have something to do with fossils and that’s appropriate.  I don’t care anymore.  I’m an old [...]

Here it goes again. Who do you believe? Thousands maintained Osama bin Laden was killed years ago…now I’m sure thousand will claim he’s still alive. Conspiracy theories. The moon landing was directed and filmed by Stanley Kubrick. The Kennedy Assassination was faked and he’s living out his old age surrounded by a bevy of island beauties on a remote island in the South Pacific. Barrack Obama wasn’t born in Hawaii, he was manufactured in a test tube by the descendants of George Washington Carver. Michelle Bachman and Sarah Palin are Rhodes Scholars who hide their intellect behind a practised bimboism developed by Stanislovsky’s School of Method Acting. Climate Change is a Marxist’s plot. Peak Oil is a plot to raise fuel prices. BP oil spill was a cover up to hide an alien outpost on the seabed of the Bermuda Triangle….”da..ta..da..ta.da..ta..da…ta…you unlock this door with the key to imagination. Beyond it is another dimension, a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You’re moving into a land of both shadow and substance….of things and ideas…you’ve just crossed over to the Twilgiht Zone….Hell. I don’t know who to believe. I’m going to read a book.

  • So aptly put Swopa, “there is a fine line between disappointment and defeatism”, and we cannot afford defeatism. That would be playing right into the hands of Neocons. They’d love nothing more.

Crikeys! You lived in Santa Cruz? I lived in Santa Cruz for awhile. No wonder you have such a fine ear for sweet songs and string picking! I’m fine…I’ll have to look up Bear Creek Blues. My parents lived in SC+ for a time and on my visits back from Aus I’d re-visit. I still remember people like Tom Scribner and have my “Keep Santa Cruz Weird” t shirt. My folks are gone now but I always factor a trip back to SC when I return.

I’m with you. I support you. But, seriously we need people to concentrate on the Congress and the Senate as well. We have to kick this misconception that Politics is a spectator sport. Agreed. Preferential voting definitely has it’s advantages over two party preferred. It gives you a chance to vote for a candidate that represents your political leanings and then preference down to the lesser of evils. You don’t waste your vote. How many people will vote for Obama not because they agree with his leadership but [...]

Agreed. I just discovered the moderator on FDL. I’m mixed but lean in favour of it. After continual fights in YouTube forums where the argument is lost and verbal abuse, name calling, bigotry and ignorance abound ad infinitum. I don’t mind having a few rules. Very civilised.
