Glackin commented on the diary post Chris Hayes, Heroes, and Morons by David Swanson.
Chris Hayea has touched upon The “dirty little secret” of war. Want it simple? In 1916, the Generals IN FAVOR of the British Attack known now as “The Somme” predicted a 40% casualty rate. Were they HEROES? Or, were they CANNON FODDER? Look up the term. Members or my family lived in Prince Edward Island, [...]

“Judge” Napolitano? ROTFLMFAO!
I come from NJ, where the “Judge” got his title. The little man is a right wing hack, the title was a pay-off.
Face it, he is a graying Eddie Munster, absent a decent writer. -

A random series of synapses fired, and I found the performance below, I was there. It was when I was deciding how to define myself as I turned 18 with the SSS. Two days later, I informed my Board that I was a C.O.
To credit Phil. or to blame him, is wrong. BUT, he made a young man think, and take a stand,

Glackin commented on the blog post Chapel Hill Mayor Mark Kleinschmidt: Why You Shouldn’t Boycott North Carolina
Mayor. Chapel Hill is not NC, just as Austin is not Tx.
BUT, Chapel Hill is surrounded by NC, just as Austin is surrounded by Tx.
Someone, somewhere, at some time, HAS TO admit to reality.Until hatred, bigotry, racism, and that Neo-Fascist oxymoron known as “American Exceptionalism” are banished from our political lexicon, we stand on the edge of allowing HATE to rule, because there is PROFIT there

My guess, a cheap shot at all the old jokes about nun’s proclivity to corporal punishment. Was there. Went through that. Had my own Sr. Marie de Sade. Have wild stories. BUT!!!! They taught! The real question is, why does ANYONE profit upon the statutory penalty that society has leveled against an individual, for a [...]

Glackin commented on the blog post Late Night: The Latest Casualty
In the early 1970′s I drove a cab in NYC while going to college. A cabbie was expected to know when each edition of the “Big Three” papers we had left came out. The “bulldog” hit the street around 10:30PM, the first edition of the next day’s paper. The “morning line”, around 7AM, gave the odds on horse races and sports. The “market close” gave the final Dow figures and, more important, the daily number.
Many people bought two or three papers a day.
Then the “market experts” decided papers SHOULD generate 20% to 25% profit. Advertising filled the pages, the price went up, and people stopped buying. -

Bring on the IRS!
While you are at it, drop a dime to Homeland Security. Those sure sounded like terroristic threats against citizens of the United States. -
Glackin commented on the blog post Late Night: Resistance Is Futile
Back in the 1960′s, when people talked of the “coming police state”, news workers in NYC told those of us doing music and providing tech for the anti-war movement that it was here, back then. COINTELPRO came out a few years later, but they were saying the news media was compromised, telecom was compromised, even the US mail.
Chicago beat the people in Haymarket Sq., In Lincoln Park in ’68, and this weekend. It is the nature of the beast.
Do what you must. I think Dylan Thomas got it right.

Glackin commented on the blog post Noooo Americans Elect Whyyyyy
The arrogance of holding an “Americans Elect” via a medium unknown to at least 20% of the voters should be sufficient reason for its demise.
Want a “THIRD PARTY”?
Get out and build one.
The way the two we now have BEGAN, not what they are now. Get in the streets, the caucuses. Build a program and a platform. You don’t need icons, you need ideas. -

Glackin commented on the blog post Elizabeth Warren: Dimon Should Resign From NY Fed Board
I’m a Mass resident. I KNOW what Scottie has done to the state, and the nation. Warren isn’t my ideal, but she is my candidate. She won’t vote for the Blunt (Brown) Amendment, the Big Oil tax relief, or the student loan interest raise, like Scottie did.
That said, the shocking idea is that Dimon is STILL THERE!
Why does a candidate have to call for his resignation? -

Glackin commented on the diary post Cruel & unusual punishment: What if Pelican Bay & Leavenworth went organic? by Jane Stillwater.
I believe that experiment was ended by men named Lincoln and Grant. People in the “Correction Industry” have gotten rich on inmate labor for centuries. Australia was built by it. Convict labor is forced labor is slave labor. Huddie Ledbetter (Leadbelly) kept landing in Parchman Farm. The story was the prison needed him, he was [...]
