SFExPat commented on the blog post Breaking News- Evacuation of Cambridge Street
I am reminded of Munich, also the Atlanta Olympics thing because of the international symbolism of these events. These are people who are not just mad at the US, they’re mad at the world. Like Harris and Klebold also, because it was random, impersonal, killing-for-killings sake to let us know how mad they are at the world.
Am hoping it will end like the Rudolph case rather than the Columbine one.
Just my (not-so-deep) thoughts for the day.

SFExPat commented on the blog post By Two-to-One Margin Americans Want to Eliminate the Electoral College
Sorry, this makes me nervous. I don’t want the electorate in Kansas or Western PA or Alabama deciding who has the power of the White House.
Make it proportional representation by congressional district or population, get rid of stoopid gerrymandering, etc. Maine has the right idea (even if not the right governor, but that is sure to change).

Please review Peterr’s post about a different perspective than your “salacious and gossipy” bullshite.

SFExPat commented on the diary post Ruth Marcus Is Outraged by Overly Generous Social Security Checks by Dean Baker.
And speaking of chained … I watched FIVE versions of Dickens’s “Christmas Carol” over the weekend and I mused upon our seniors/elderly not being “chained” but wished that the G.D. elite who are practically asking “Are there no prisons? And the workhouses …?” will show up in the afterlife like Jacob Marley with his ponderous [...]
