Ms. Colon is basically saying “clerks should misgender other people so that I am more comfortable.” I’ve got tits, and I’m no woman.
In my opinion, asking is the best bet. Heck, ask cis-binary-looking people too. Some will get offended, some will learn a bit about their own assumptions, and some will surprise with their answer.
