Shairdawelth commented on the blog post Why the Politics of Obamacare Implementation Could Be Very Different From Medicare Part D
There were no “losers” during the implementation of Medicare Part D.
I wouldn’t call those people (like my mom) who fell into the Part D coverage gap (doughnut hole) winners.

Somebody needs to publish the names, home addresses, and personal email addresses of Google’s higher management.

Shairdawelth commented on the blog post Larry Summers: It is Good That America Didn’t Adopt Single-Payer in the 70′s
As much as I despised Reagan, he probably surrounded himself with some of the best advisers that he could find.
The Reagan administration had the greatest number of convicted advisers in US history.
Despite the rhetoric, Obama seems to prefer to surround himself with insiders from the business world. There’s nothing wrong with that necessarily . . .
I don’t have time to go into details, but when you preselect only one opinion or set of experiences or points of view then the results are predictable. That is why so many of us jumped off the Obama band wagon and started waving red flags when he made his first appointments.

Shairdawelth commented on the blog post The Occidental Tourist
I am currently trapped behind the Orange Curtain in southern California where the Vietnamese segment of the population is overwhelmingly Republican.
A couple of days ago I was sitting in a Vietnamese sandwich shop and an older white guy sat down next to a younger Vietnamese guy. They shared their concern that the poor Pharmaceutical industry is being starved of their due profits by evil patent laws and government regulations.
I found myself laughing and crying at the same time.

Shairdawelth commented on the blog post Obama Administration Under Fire For Selling Access
Didn’t the Obama DOJ recently deny the appeal and returned to prison former AL Governor Don Siegelman (D) for supposedly doing something like this?

Shairdawelth commented on the blog post One Million Moms Are Pretty Fucking Tired Of Your Filthy Fucking Mouth
I’m a dad (not a mom) and have done my fair share of swearing. But geez! Some people these days can’t complete a sentence without spewing out one or two F-bombs. I could have my young daughter, my old mother, or my wife with me and they don’t give a rat’s ass. For example, today three young guys parked their car next to mine and were only around for five minutes getting their gear ready for the beach. By the time they left the F-count had gone over 100 (had I been counting). Talk about a limited vocabulary!

Shairdawelth commented on the blog post A Surprisingly Liberal Inaugural Address
I’m happy that someone can still stomach listening to the Chicago Charlatan. As soon as I hear or see that sucker on radio or TV the station is instantly changed. I feel the same about him as I did about the Great Bushwacker.

Shairdawelth commented on the diary post White House Has No Comment on Anti-Gay Inaugural Pastor Choice by Teddy Partridge.
I can’t argue with you given his choice for the past inauguration and the coming one, coupled with throwing his personal minister under the bus for speaking the truth.

Shairdawelth commented on the diary post Some thoughts on Michigan’s ‘right to work’ law by cal222.
In the past 10 yrs or so, I’ve had a new voting strategy. Any tax or bond proposals to help police and fire fighters get a “NO” vote from me. When they start supporting other union workers and stop the head bashing of legal demonstrators, then I’ll begin voting in their interest.

Congratulations to Dan Choi!
That said, the powerful made their point, ‘Protest us and we will make trouble for you.’

Today I was looking for a Styrofoam head to use as a sewing form to make a hat. I found one on Ebay entitled “MANNEQUIN/ STYROFOAM HEADS/ TARGET SHOOTING“. Made my stomach churn.

Shairdawelth commented on the blog post Video: Alan Simpson Does Gangnam Style Austerity Dance
Actually, Jane, the dance is about poseurs (middle class or otherwise) who want to be seen as being a member of an elite class, in this case Gangnam. Since the Republican base admires wealth so much and desires to be a part of the upper crust, the dance is making fun of them, or in other words, the dance makes fun of those who continually vote against their own interests. Simpson, with a wink and a nudge to his rich cronies, is giving a big FU to his base.
(No, I don’t honestly think that Simpson knows what he is doing … about anything.)

Shairdawelth commented on the blog post On Economy, Justice, Obama Housing Plan Fell Well Short
The truth is that Geithner wanted to protect banks and their bondholders at all costs, and that didn’t match with delivering debt relief to borrowers. Period.
But, but, but … many wise people at the Daily Kos said back in Nov 2008 that it didn’t matter who Obama appointed to run the economy. These appointees were merely there to do the bidding of the Chess Master.
