shergald commented on the diary post Ex-Shin Bet Head Diskin: Bibi, Barak ‘not fit to lead Israel’ And Wrong on Iran by CTuttle.
Iran this, Iran that. The only possible purpose of a preelection attack on Iran is to undermine Obama’s campaign. The other more successful purpose is to accelerate the colonization of Palestinian lands in the West Bank. Major olive producing village ordered to uproot 1,400 trees by May 1 “Earlier this week, Israel ordered Palestinian farmers in [...]

shergald commented on the diary post Obama’s al-Nakba Day Message by EdwardTeller.
We should not forget that the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians from their homeland, the Nakba, began two months before Independence Day. Some of the villages were not exactly ethnically cleansed, like Dier Yassin and Turanto, bur were actually emptied by massacres perpetrated by the Ergun and the Stern Gang, run by leaders who were [...]

And once again, thanks Tuttle for keeping these issues upfront.

shergald commented on the diary post Carter: ‘Oppose Unnecessary Wars, Preemptive Strikes, And, Embargoes’ And, Obama Imposes Another Round of Sanctions on Syria/Iran by CTuttle.
Since Carter published his book, Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid, the mainstream media, under censorship pressures by the right wing Israel Lobby, have been reluctant to give him even the back pages. During the last DNC convention, Carter and his wife had to walk in almost in cognito, out of sight, lest his presence draw attention. [...]

shergald commented on the diary post Flytilla Grounded by Typical Israeli F*ckery by CTuttle.
First let me say that it was highly unlikely that the Israelis were not apprised of the Flytilla before it got off the ground, and in fact warned airlines that if they flew into Tel Aviv, they would be financially responsible to fly the participants out, at their own cost. Many planes did not even [...]

shergald commented on the diary post Flytilla Grounded by Typical Israeli F*ckery by CTuttle.
The failure of the flytilla is not all Israel’s success in stopping it in its tracks. Even if all of the participants had found their way to the West Bank, it would have failed in its purpose. That purpose of course was to publicize the occupation and colonization of the Palestinian territories, as well as [...]

shergald commented on the diary post Günter Grass Declared Persona non Grata in Israel for a Poem by EdwardTeller.
It is hard to know which is more important: Israeli propaganda and lies or American press censorship of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Rick Steves may not be as significant a writer as Gunther Grass, as he only publishes travel guides and produces a popular PBS show on European travel, but he too recently spoke out about [...]

Just a followup note from Mondoweiss: ‘Israel’s policy endangers world peace’ — Jakob Augstein and Gideon Levy have Gunter Grass’s back http://mondoweiss.net/2012/04/israels-policy-endangers-world-peace-jakob-augstein-and-gideon-levy-have-gunter-grasss-back.html Annie Robbins: “It’s starting to dawn on me how important Gunter Grass’s poem is. The naysayers predictably took their first loud shots against it (and him), that’s to be expected. But the pushback has [...]

Interesting that a “Support Israel” ad accompanied your diary. Walt is essentially saying the writing is on the wall. AIPAC has supported the right wing Likud position, Ben Gurion’s Greater Israel dream, for at least the past 20 years. Similarly, Likud under Netanyahu, has been against the two state solution, the Oslo land for peace [...]

shergald commented on the diary post Hurling BRICs, And, ‘Israel Bought an Airfield Called Azerbaijan’ by CTuttle.
It doesn’t look good for Obama. Netanyahu seems intent on giving the US eight dollar gasoline and oil before the November elections, wrecking the recovery and exacting his revenge.
Thanks as always Tuttle.

Thanks Israel for our undying friendship, tax monies, and totally dedicated suck up congressional members. Is there anything else we can do to prevent you from putting our country into a deep economic depression?

shergald commented on the diary post More Persian Fantasies… by CTuttle.
It is hard to believe that Netanyahu would go for more than Ben Gurion’s dream of a Greater Israel, which, except for Rabin’s peace hiatus, has been pursued by all Israeli governments, left of right (Livni, Wikileaks). Israel already took the Golan, which exceeded that dream, and are unlikely to ever give it back to [...]

shergald commented on the diary post Israel: the Permanent-War State by CTuttle.
Interestingly, if you were to quote that link to Mondoweiss on Daily Kos, you would be immediately banned. It seems that the right wing likudniks who now overwhelm the site have gotten Kos to ban pretty much everything they wish, including peace activists like Phil Weiss and his collaborators.

When Barak broke the 2008 ceasefire, he claimed that he never agreed not to kill terrorists. Of course, in response, Hamas resumed rocketing southern Israel, but then agreed to resume the ceasefire. Instead, we got the Gaza massacre of that year in which 1400 Palestinians, mostly civilians were killed, the child deaths reaching over 400. [...]
