I think you’re right. I fell asleep on the chair last night and woke up with my head hanging over the arm (basically sleeping upside down) and now — 14 hours later — my fingers are hurting so bad I’m typing with one finger at a time — pecking at the keyboard. No way I could have caused permanent damage, is there?

  • I had to be strip-searched once in a jail (full cavity search). It is unbelievably unpleasant and degrading. Once done — you have to put on tighty-whiteys underwear, instead of your own. They were stained with piss and shit. Then, in the middle of a Minnesota winter, they turn the HEAT OFF at 5:00PM when the courthouse closes, to save money. So you sit shivering with a single blanket (more like a tissue) all night in someone else’s dirty underwear. All this and guess what? I was out the next day, as the asshole who got me arrested fessed up and admitted he LIED and I actually did nothing wrong. Still had to face a judge, first — despite his admission.

I find the picture used with this article extremely offensive. There’s at least one dead guy in it. Plus the bloody dude on the floor.

I have this really bad pain in my fingers on both hands and in my left hand itself. How fast can arthritis come on? It REALLY hurts, but it just started like 10 minutes ago.

Gawd, that’s depressing. But what can we expect when Texas and Texas alone controls the content of what “our children is learning”?

I meant it “isn’t just at FDL” not it “is.” Sorry about that. I would have just edited my post, but I’ve noticed when a post is edited, the paragraph breaks disappear and I didn’t want to post a big wall of text.

Question for a late night thread:

Why are the majority of Liberals early birds, rather than night owls? Being a night owl, myself — it makes for lonely evenings online. This is just at FDL — it’s at every Liberal blog I visit. While moderate blogs keep going strong, movie blogs, video game blogs, all are having active conversations deep into the night/morning … it’s basically “lights out” at Liberal blogs by midnight, at the latest.

I know many of you (or the few of you still awake), are ready to pounce in with, “Liberals have jobs.” But so do the people at the other blogs I named. And so do I. What I worry about is that the population of Liberal blogs is waaaaaay older than that of the other blogs described. And that makes me worry that Liberalism itself is disappearing in younger generations.

Katie Couric called herself “America’s Sweetheart” (in mocking fashion) a number of times. Her final Today Show was billed, time and time again, as, “Say goodbye to America’s Sweetheart.” Sarah Palin’s whole “Hockey Mom” thing was her trademark. So I see no sexism in the article — maybe in the advertising for Today calling Couric America’s Sweetheart, but none in the article itself.

As to your other point? Yes — the Conservative bias is quite apparent. Remember, NBC is supposedly our “Liberal” news outlet. What will be on tomorrow morning? Conservative nutter Morning Joe on MSNBC and Conservative nutter Sarah Palin on NBC. Neither fair or balanced. If a Sarah Palin is going to be on, then where is a Michael Moore as guest host? I can’t believe people still claim the media is “Liberal” — one of those people is, ironically, guest hosting the Today Show this morning.

Wanted to create my very first diary (think it would be featured), but FDL doesn’t accept images from The Juicy Cerebellum. And that’s a problem, as all images are on TJC. Anyway, I hope you read this, since I wrote this for you FDL’ers. The diary is called, “This is what RACISM looks like!” and [...]

“Feisty” doesn’t bother me so much. It’s “fanatic” that gets under my skin. Which is why I stay far, far away from The Blaze — unless I have a wound that needs to be salted. ;-p

I emailed IMDb asking just that (whether or not I was hacked). I received this response:

    Thank you for contacting us.

Posts can also be deleted by an administrator if they have generated complaints from other users (through the Report Abuse feature) and have been deemed inappropriate or in violation of our Terms & Conditions of use.

In some cases administrators may exercise the option of removing entire post histories from the system. If this has happened to you, it’s a definite sign that you are doing something inappropriate that has attracted multiple complaints.

Reading that, I deduced a lot of the “libtard” type posters reported my post — which violated no IMDb or Amazon terms and conditions — over and over again. One of the complainers fearful of varying opinions finally lucked out and hit an admin. who sympathized with them and wiped my account. I have found out that an account cannot be taken down automatically, based only on reports. A living, breathing admin. can only make the decision.

Again, the GOP Tea Party types prove they are all about freedom!

Not new. But usually just lurking. But I have been making a post here and there on the site for the past couple of years. I used to post a lot over at Kos, until Markos’ Obama-worship became too much for me to handle. And I suppose I spent the rest of my time posting at IMDb, which I obviously regret, at this point. Thanks, either way, for the welcome!

My IMDb account was tied to my Amazon account. I buy a lot from Amazon (you have to have made an Amazon purchase in the past year to even authenticate your account). I thought that at least the illusion of customer service still meant something to these monoliths. I guess I was naive. The Internet didn’t save Freedom of Speech, it squashed it.

    So …

Looking for some opinions on this. I have had an active account on IMDb (Internet Movie Database) for 12 years. I’ve been visiting the site for 17. In the 12 years of actively posting, I never had a single post removed for violating the terms and conditions of IMDb (owned by AMAZON). Then I posted this in regards to the propaganda film, Act of Valor:

“Goebbels had Leni Riefenstahl make films like this to pump up the boys and add to the ranks. The fact this opened at # 1 is a scary statement about the state of America. How many more wars must we fight? I thought we were tiring of this — now are we going to start rooting for a new war in Iran? ‘Act of Valor’ is the most ironic title ever. It’d make me laugh, if it wasn’t so sad.”

    What do you think happened?

I had my entire account wiped. Not just the above post, but every post I had ever made. 12 years of posts (literally thousands) gone. 17 years of ratings, gone. My account taken.

At the same time, this post has sat in the thread for longer than mine did and is still there today:

“Libtards are traitors to this country and the sequel to this movie we should fight the real enemy the libtards. If they be family friend or child we must fight them before they destroy are country!!!”

So, that post is okay with Amazon/IMDb. The one I wrote warranted destroying my longstanding account. Am I wrong to be hurt/shocked/worried over this?

    Spoiler alert!

I’m half kidding. But I do try to avoid knowing the outcome ’til I watch it, but I don’t watch it live as I hate sitting through ads. Anyway, this one was in the bag for Romney, so this isn’t much of a surprise. And now I can delete all the talking heads without having to hear them blather on and on about nothing.

Someone should throw these spoiled fuckers in jail. I’m so goddamned tired of hearing these titans whining about paying their taxes. The price we’ve paid to keep their taxes low is staggering. Fuck Apple. “Eat the Rich” will become more than a slogan, just because it’s all the poor will have left to eat after they take everything from us. Occupy Apple!

  • How about freedom of links in a freedom of information article? It would have been nice to click over to the full articles after reading this compilation of selected quotes. I don’t think I’ve seen a blog post that doesn’t link to the articles it quotes. Especially after praising said articles.

  • That answered nothing. Yes, they’re all the 1% — but why does the Conservative side of that 1% give so much more to their candidates than the Liberal side of that 1%?
