I wouldn’t worry about it, at least not for a few years. Young Black men in the US seem as snowed by Obama as everybody else, even though the Black community is doing horribly under his regime.

“Shut the fuck up.” Just had to see that again. What a brilliant rebuttal. If you don’t have an actual case to make, maybe you should practice what you preach.

Nice way to tarnish an entire generation. I’d write a rebuttal, but you helpfully bracketed your opinion by saying that it’s personal, anecdotal, and to my mind, worthless. It’s just as venal as saying that the baby boomers are the most spoiled generation.

I came to the realization recently – and it felt very odd at first – that LBJ was the most progressive president of my lifetime (born in late 65).

I keep thinking of Jake La Motta taking a dive for the Mob in RAGING BULL. And the way the PTB have ruined the country is encapsulated very well in the “fuck you pay me” sequence in GOODFELLAS where they bust the restaurant out.

sonofthedude commented on the blog post Republicans Attempt “Vote for Us or We’ll Tear the Mother Down” Closing Argument
So I guess we’re playing good cop/bad and batshit insane cop now. More kabuki shit. I’m still voting for Stein here in CA, and will sleep like a baby.

sonofthedude commented on the diary post Obama’s Problem by Kate Flannery.
I used to think that people who said there was a coup in November of 1963 were crackpots. Now I believe they were (are) right. That is why I’m fairly relaxed about this election, but for the wrong reason – like Robert Mitchum once said, it doesn’t really matter whose hand is in the till.

Bravo. Nothing else to say.

sonofthedude commented on the blog post Unmoved by Ruling, Obama Appeals Permanent Injunction Against Indefinite Detention Provision in NDAA (VIDEO)
I gave up after I was talking to my mother on the phone and pointed out that Obama had essentially suspended habeas corpus. It didn’t seem to bother her. And she’s a retired lawyer.

sonofthedude commented on the blog post Obama and Romney Tied in Florida
I also agree, which is why I’ll be voting Green and not for the lesser of two evils. Of course, I’m in CA and I think Obama will still clobber Romney here, so even if I voted directly for Romney it wouldn’t matter.

sonofthedude commented on the blog post Rhode Island Poised to Become 15th State to Decriminalize Marijuana
Same-sex marriage may come to pass, but I don’t think pot legalization will make much more headway – it’s a great feeder for the prison-industry complex. Certainly if you’re a black or brown pot aficionado you’ll have to continue to watch your step.

sonofthedude commented on the diary post Stop Me Before I Vote Again by ProgThis.
I voted in California’s primary today, my first as a “decline to state.” The lady at the table, noting I was an independent, immediately asked if I wanted to “cross over.” I told her I left the enabling weasel Democratic Party in March of last year. She didn’t say anything, but it clearly didn’t go [...]

sonofthedude commented on the blog post How a Lack of Financial Fraud Prosecutions Aids and Abets More Fraud
Here’s the one upside of Romney winning, and it’s actually a big one – he is so repulsive, transparently greedy, cold-hearted and ham-handed in everything he says and does that after four years of his Presidency I think the majority of the citizenry will not be able to help seeing what’s really going on. Obama the smooth talker will be able to finesse it for a good while longer. I’m not voting for any Obama or any Democrats for NDAA and H.R. 347 among other things. Not that it’ll make much difference, because I’m in CA and I’m pretty sure they’ll still win and Obama will clobber Romney. But voting for “the lesser” hasn’t worked in my almost 30 years of voting. I’m done, and Dog save the United States of America.

sonofthedude commented on the blog post WI: Gov. Walker Looking Strong Before Recall
It reminds me a lot of what happened with Scott Brown and Martha Coakely in MA. Field a lackluster (in Coakley’s case, somewhat repugnant) candidate and put in a weak fight at the last minute.

“Among the young, the jobless are a majority.”
We’ll be reaching that point shortly, and I think it may be a tipping one.

sonofthedude commented on the blog post UnAmerican: If Elected, Rick Santorum Would Banhammer Fap Sites
There is not a snowball’s chance in hell this will ever happen and that is because there is too much money to be made from porn. If Santorum somehow manages to win, the PTB may allow him to terrorize women and gay citizens but they will not allow any action that might drain money away from their coffers.
