  • Yeah, that’s pretty much what I thought. Greenwald has made the case that ‘terrorism’ is meaningless now that the government has openly signed on to doublespeak.

    This sounds like the same kind of thing. Depends on whose ox is being gored — if you’re on our side, you’re a ‘freedom fighter’. If you’re on the other side, you’re an ‘insurgent’ or ‘militant’.

    Further and further we go down the rabbit hole. Let’s hope the matrix was just a movie.

    Can anyone point me to a resource on the differences between ‘militant’, ‘insurgent’, ‘extremist’ and ‘terrorist’?

    This attack is being attributed to ‘insurgents’, but haven’t we been told that al-queda are ‘terrorists’? Or at least ‘militants’? And definitely ‘extremists’.

    What’s the criteria for which term is used?
