SqueakyRat commented on the blog post Late Night: Who Are These Guys?
The minimum wage increase won’t pass. There won’t be much on gun control — maybe background checks. But there’s nothing wrong with proposing this stuff, even if you don’t think you can get it done. It helps to change the politics just to propose it. These measures are actually very popular. And recognizing it won’t happen doesn’t mean Obama doesn’t want it to happen and he’s cynically proposing it just to throw a bone to the left.
Some of the stuff on this thread is reallio-trulio paranoid.

Your data from CEPR on expected returns to pension investments were given in nominal $$, not inflation-adjusted ones. Could make a difference.

SqueakyRat commented on the blog post Late Night FDL: Controlling Young Women
Great post, but . . . I wonder if men — especially young men — can ever change. Most men don’t rape, but we’re all aware of the beast. Even loving, affectionate sex has its savage edge. I just don’t see a world where women won’t have to be cautious. Sorry.

On the internet, you are what you present yourself as, Doremus. And you presented yourself as a cheap, shallow cynic.

I’m dead set against war with Iran, but how does it turn into WW3?

I expect Jon was calling Mittens lucky for the quality of his GOP competition. As for Dole, he did get off a funny line once in a while.

People will be much more efficient if the dead weight of regulation is removed from their internal organs. Stands to reason.

Meanwhile, the parking regulations enforcement, which is the only thing that gives the meters their financial value, will of course continue to be paid for by the taxpayers of Chicago.
