sredge commented on the diary post The Business Roundtable Hates The Americans Who Make Its Members Rich by masaccio.
You are so right. It seems like most Americans just are not paying attention. We jump right on ‘hope & change’, like when will anything change in a good way? I keep getting more and more discouraged and it looks to me like the USA is all done, we are doomed, we are collapsing like [...]

Probably because those “representatives” were bought by the 0.01%ers. THey are only concerned with protecting what is in the best interest of the 0.01%, certainly not the 99%.

Rag on the welfare cheats, those who are trying to get something for nothing. What they are getting is chump change compares to what the bigshots at the top are stealing, bankers stealing trillions. -

Sadly, I agree. We are toast. We need to throw all the bums out. Government exists to serve the people, not the other way around.

So true. This is not the America I grew up in. It has become more and more foreign every day.

sredge commented on the blog post Obama Executive Order Seeks Crackdown on Drug Shortages
There have also been shortages around the country of stimulant medications for ADHD. Okay so the kid won’t die without it, but might not pass a grade.
And big shortages of monthly depot antipsychotic medications, with resulting huge increases in price. And most of the time these are already paid for by Community Mental Health Clinics and/or Medicaid, which is, when last I looked, part of government. -

Yep, the Cavinator caved in to what the insurance companies wanted (a windfall way beyond their wildest dreams) and the Cavinator caved in to what PHARMA wanted (a fabulously astronomical windfall beyond comprehension) and the cake topper for Republicans, even though they won’t admit it, the Mandate!!! The only part they truly love. This was all so stupid. The VA was revamped and modernized about 30 years ago, they have a computer system that is lightyears ahead of anything any hospital system has, they utilize Evidence Based Medicine, and they negotiate drug prices with pharmaceutical companies. Designed as a model for the Public Option, a foundation. Too bad they didn’t anticipate the Iraq mess, but someone was definitely thinking ahead.

sredge commented on the diary post Friday’s Occupy Detroit’s protest at BOA by katiejacob.
Having driven every day from Rochester HIlls to Detroit for fifteen years, I am glad to see there are people there who are joining in. Detroit has been suffering for years, no thanks to the automobile folks who did their share of pillaging and plundering. GM ripped out a perfectly good streetcar system to force [...]

It says that he does not know how to read people and figure out who can help him out. He doesn’t know who his friends are. He thinks if he “compromises” and gives in to what Republicans want, they will like him and invite him in to their private parties. I don’t know how that [...]

Agree. No public option, cave to insurance companies and pharma. We have been taken over by rogues and pirates, and they are proud of it.

No you are not alone.
“Watching this nightmare unfold is like coming upon a horrific traffic accident. You can’t help but look. Obama is a dangerous man.”
Every time I hear one of them start out with “…the American people want…..” I start to fell like I am going to throw up. I wonder what planet their “American people” live on, you know, the one where rich people don’t pay any taxes at all, there is a $2/hour job for anyone who wants to work, and everyone is happy happy joy joy.
I am one of the American people living in this USA that no one is listening to and none of them have any idea of what I want, or how disappointed and disillusioned I am. And the constant grieving for the UAW and all of the unions and these young folks out there don’t even know what has been lost. They believe what the Repugs have told them, that unions are bad. So they don’t even know it when the are being screwed. -
sredge commented on the blog post Only One in Four Approve of Obama on the Economy
IIt’s so astonishing that they did everything right during the campaign, had it all figured out, and then once in office, he turns into this Republican wannabe. And he doesn’t get it that he’s just not white enough for them. I don’t understand what happened to all those brilliant strategists who choreographed his campaign. He must have fired them all. I just haven’t been able to wrap my brain around the idea that Bipartisanship is the most important thing. Or that the R’s are right about the deficit, and that we have a spending problem, and tax cuts for rich people create jobs. He really needs to get honest about it, and go ahead and run as a moderate Republican, and then truly, we can all not vote for him!!

sredge commented on the blog post Only One in Four Approve of Obama on the Economy
I, too, thought George Bush was the absolute worst president in history, not only for lying about WMDs and Iraq, and tax cuts for rich people, but also for the multitude of under the radar things he did, like defunding everything he didn’t like, defanging environmental regulations, and setting up the Great Recession, which of course through no fault of his own, Barack Obama inherited. And I can easily believe that it was far worse than what we were told. But when he surrounded himself with the likes of Larry Summers and Tim Geitner, caving in on everything, caving in on the public option, I was stunned, shocked and awed, and scared silly that here was a guy who had the gift of great oratory and said such great things that we all wanted to hear and believe, became more George Bush than George Bush. It was like he’s been in this contest, and he went right to the top of the chart, and beat George Bush for the title of Worst President in history. He has just totally morphed into something else entirely, something totally different from what he was during the campaign. All he does is kiss ass to the Repugs and the Tea Baggers. He’s the Cavinator.

sredge commented on the blog post Bernie Sanders to Primary Obama? Don’t Make Me Laugh
Right again, Jane. I have been more disgusted every day by this circus going on. The first ‘speech’ by Bush III sounded pretty good, like for once he was not going to cave, however, he clarified his position in the second ‘speech’ on prime time TV.That was when he admitted that there was nothing he can do, and his advice to us all, “Write/call your Senators and Congressmen.”
So we are witness to the castration of the president (maybe he is showing his true colors, after all, Goldman Sachs allowed him to be elected), and a future of impoverished Americans, kowtowing to Saint Wall Street. No Social Security, no Medicare, no Medicaid. Hell, no social safety net whatsoever! Let ‘em die! And die quickly! On second thought, he doesn’t deserve the title of Bush III. Bush II had some compassion. No, he deserves his title of Caver in Chief or something more indicative of Wall St point man. - Load More
