Well, actually, if you believe that New York Times article they were doing exactly what they were paid to do by the big insurers. Those of us in that 99 percent of loserville can be damned…What’s disturbing about this is the lengths that Barack Obama went to do these things. It’s almost as if even had the House brassed up and passed a strong retroactive public option or medicare for all, with immediate enactments that you could feel, you get the idea that he would have vetoed that bill. Not that Mitt Romney would have done any better…

Well, I agree that primarying the president is the answer and is still the answer. I don’t think he’s unbeatable. You don’t need a billion to contest and win the democratic primary. You need about 35 million, again Labor could do it if they had a brain. Still holding my breath for the Hollywood Left. Here’s the skinny after knocking on doors in poor and middle class neighborhoods for six weeks. Obama still has the black vote locked up although if you ask them why they’re a little vague. Nothing wrong with tribalism I guess. However, the white vote is up for grabs. Apparently, there are lots of firebaggers out in the streets of Pittsburgh. Newsflash: most of the early primaries will be decided by the white vote.

This is why, instead of hating on Ralph Nader (I thought voter caging of over 60000 minority voters cost Gore the election, not Nader, that and not fighting for your vote as hard as Norm Coleman, or continuing not to care about the issue in Ohio 2004 or Wisconsin 2011…) on your front page, tactically sound Firebaggers should be working with Nader and Cornell West to recruit primary challengers to the president. My only complaint is that they should focus on no more than two, possibly even one. You don’t want to split the Anti Obama vote in the early runs….

Oh I think Mike Moore could do it. I’ll repeat my crazy dream. Find 300 fed up Hollywood millionaires like Mike Moore. Have them give 1 million dollars each. (That’s the old Newt number but I still think its correct.) Use that money not only to run somebody for president who we could trust a little but also 25 house runs and 5 senate seats. I would also take 25 million and advertise 2 party corruption with the same energy of the GEICO ads…Where the Justice or the New Democrats party wasn’t running then I would loyally support the better dems…

I’m actually preparing a larger piece called “The African American Argument for a Primary Challenge Against Barack Obama”. I think number one is “He’s not going to win anyway” and two is “Even if I win, I lose.”. He’ll just talk like FDR, although lately he hasn’t even done that (more like Hoover) and govern to Orrin Hatch’s urgings. I’m beginning to think that, as someone else commented here, that he is in fact a republican, wearing a pretty convincing disguise, even though ten percent of black americans vote republican. I never guessed my president was one of them. I guess there were blacks in the confederacy and jews that worked with Nazis. It happens.

I suppose judges are the best argument, but he won’t fight for them! At the end of a second term republicans will probably still control the appellate courts and they’ll always have some hand in the game in the DLCers that are appointed to the bench. He needs a primary opponent from the left. Of course, the nightmare is that Joe Manchin steps in and he would have actually have a great shot of winning…then where would we be…? Somebody with a shot at winning from the left, please run…

As far as what can he do? He should adopt the MoveOn Contract for the American Dream plan right around the time that the gas tax is up, and use the shock doctrine, for once, to get it passed. Or at least pretend all the while telling his rich backers: “Just fooling them fellas. I know that high unemployment keeps the wage slaves all slavery. I wouldn’t dream of ending that. But I have to make it look good. Hey, who delivered against the public option…? I’m your dude…” There’s also about 160 million in unspent stimulus. I guess I would put it all into unemployment extensions and food stamps but I don’t understand his thinking. If people aren’t working then they’ll try crazy…

Just for the record: I don’t think Matt Damon will run for president. You’re asking someone to sacrifice a successful Hollywood career to become president. No one is that good…but he could fund a successful third party movement. Just need 300 Hollywood multimillionaires to do that. You don’t need to win the presidency. You need 5 senators willing to use even the old fashioned filibuster as a tool…those senators aren’t being recruited by the dems. I would look for union organizers, national guild attorneys, badass black defense attorneys, or fighters. Something that we don’t have now…Oh, it would be nice if they were to sign a pledge not to work for the usual assortment of evil lobbyists after their term of service ends.

Well I wish Mike Moore and Matt Damon would find 298 of their rich Hollywood friends and fund third party efforts to the tune of 300 million dollars. That would be enough to challenge the two parties. I’m guessing they could probably fund that themselves but I understand that rich people get other people to spend their money. Plus, its only a million. I also think that’s what you would need to fund a viable third party run that could actually win. I prefer Michael to Matt because I think Mr. Moore is more politically engaged and I also think a charismatic Hollywood person could win the White House.

Then again, there’s always my 5/25 plan, just need 35 millionaires to fund that for about 10 years.

Or you could spend the next year or two building a third party. If I had 300 million (Newt, while often wrong, was right about this number..)to spend I could give you a third party. 300 angry Matt Damons giving 1 million each could build a real independent presidential campaign.

A third party movement actually needs only about 30 million, this way you could contest 5 senate seats and 25 house seats, to be filled with progressives who fight like republicans for opposite goals I would hope! You give me 300000 angry firebaggers giving 10 bucks a month and we can be in play by 2012…
