stellacorso commented on the blog post White House Issues Truly Pathetic Non-Response to Petition About State Marijuana Legalization Laws
jeez, when will people realize what o says isn’t as important as what he doesn’t say.
his “It does not make sense from a prioritization point of view for us to focus on recreational drug users” translates into “I’ll keep on doing what I’ve been doing, which is going after the dispensaries and their owners. ” Marijuana legalization ain’t happening until big pharma has secured their position at head of line. -
stellacorso commented on the blog post Boehner’s Debt Limit “Concession” Not a Concession at All
Just saw this on bloomberg site -
“President Barack Obama is considering a possible budget concession on Social Security cost-of-living increases after House Speaker John Boehner dropped his opposition to raising tax rates for some top earners, said two people familiar with the talks.”
I don’t think Mr. O will do anything he doesn’t really want to do. -
stellacorso commented on the blog post Bill Clinton Manages to Trust America to Listen to 46 Minutes of Policy
Building a better tomorrow TOMORROW may help the majority of frightened Ds sleep at night, but I don’t want to lie on my death bed regretting all the things in life I didn’t do when I had the chance, only because I was afraid to try.
Seriously, though, the line in the sand for me was when he signed into law giving him and all future U.S. presidents the divine right of life or death of any soul on the planet, with no questions allowed. For me, rejecting sanctioned-murder laws and their enablers is not a sparkle pony principle.

stellacorso commented on the diary post Matt Miller on the Decadence of the Western Intellectual Class by Dean Baker.
Matt Miller is the epitome of DC intellectual laziness. He’s a third string stand-in, anything he spouts, he’s heard from someone more notable than him. He’s made a career of go along to get along.

The common denominator so far is food. (figa, eattheroses, and one food blog that has used the guild. The links in the guild blog suggest Scripps or AmEx subsidiaries (foodnetwork.com, HGTV and DIY networks, Food & Wine magazine) could be the paying clients.

Creative accounting sounds like alot of work. I’d rather swap an LV desert house and a gambling job for a cavehouse on a Greek isle and rent motorbikes to tourists.

At what percentage point does an underwater mortgage payer decide it’s not worth it and chooses to walk away? 200%? 300%?
“. . .Let me just give you one example. That street that he was on today, the president was on today, a house there, a specific house we looked up was worth $210,000 in 2007. A month ago, it sold for less than $70,000.” – Jon Ralston, LVSun http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/business/july-dec11/foreclosures_10-24.html -

According to a greek website
violence between opposing factions of protesters has resulted in a death. A cautionary lesson. I’m sure the troika welcomes the ‘fight amongst yourselves’ diversion. Also check out this extensive photo log . Professional photographer’s viewpoint seems to be very focused. Occupy Anywhere, beware. Ignored, then laughed at, now the fight has started. -

stellacorso commented on the blog post Obama’s 2008 Hope Morphs Into 2012 Slash-and-Burn
While negative, fear-based ads may get some results for the WH, it may backfire on them. By the obvious omission of O’s paltry list of accomplishments of his term in office, he continues the lesser of 2 evils political dogma, that too many people are thoroughly sick and tired of. Divide and conquer wins the day? That’s a losing strategy, as D’s, R’s, and I’s continually lose their jobs and benefits.

stellacorso commented on the blog post Obama’s Tipping Point
O is more surfer dude than Ahab. Ahab had absolute values and went down because of them. O would rather ride the waves (67% polling), unless it threatens his status with big kahuna finance and political dudes, and his future access to global private ‘beaches’. I mean, what did any one expect from a junior senator who couldn’t commit to a Y/N vote 42% of the time?
Joking aside, I think he was allowed his brass ring as long as he didn’t challenge the status quo and expose the crushing monopolies and giant ponzi schemes (finance, energy, health; & HCR was crafted to cement a monopoly, not to mention the ponzi of ‘modern medicine’). He could tinker around the edges with social issues like DADT, but nothing that truly challenges the money. He has surprised even cynical me, though, with his political hubris dismantling the social safety nets. While my initial response is to stay home and not vote in 2012, I look forward to Legitimate creative voting. I’ve always loved the phrase, ‘Necessity is the mother of invention’. It’s a good motto when approaching any of today’s myriad of problems. -

I was re-watching one of my favorite movies last week, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy , when I was struck by a line of the planet-building worker, Slartibartfast, “I’d rather be happy than right.” No truer sentiment for the mindset of America these days, [...] -
stellacorso commented on the blog post Debt Ceiling Post Mortem: Obama Between a Rock and a Hard Place
The yinyang style of governance does seem to be O’s modus operandi. Add immigration reform to mix, cause that’s where the numbers are for him at this point. That’s also a win for R’s, but all will put on a fine show of si se puede and hell no you can’t. The only obstacle will be jobs, or more precisely, how the voting public reacts to the obvious realization decent paying ones aren’t coming back. I’m amazed they’ve kept this turd of an economy afloat this long. If too many exit the pool, food fights will start.
