Quoting scripture and talking about disobedience to a character in a book while putting down others for the way they interpret scripture or their obedience to a character in a book. Irony anyone?

I understand what you mean about jumping to conclusions because of Islamophobia. I sometimes force myself to read the comments on MSM just to see how awful the state of the nation is. I simply meant that I see no evidence (yet) that the gov chose these three friends based on race or nationality. It’s [...]

Skepticism is absolutely called for. I personally don’t trust the government as far as I can spit. However, the writer here doesn’t seem to be addressing that. He seems to be saying that these friends are being picked on because of who they are. I’m just not buying that.

I agree, this diary is off base. If these friends tried to destroy evidence and cover up a crime, then throw the book at them. As far as their ethnicity, I don’t see what it has to do with anything. If they were white Americans I imagine their names and pictures would also be splashed [...]

Don’t be too quick to add pot to the list. Unable to come up with any other valid arguments, Eric Holder said recently that they need to study the effects legalization will have on children.

You know you are out of ammunition when you are reduced to the “think of the children” argument.

I voted Green. First time in nearly 40 years that I did not vote a straight Dem ticket.

  • I don’t think electing all Republicans would have produced better results. I think that it wouldn’t have made any difference at all as compared to Democrats. The Obama years have been and will be just as bad as the Bush years. What is the discernible difference? Job situation sucks. Social Security and Medicare under assault. Same wars and billions wasted on the MIC. Banksters and corps doing just peachy while workers continue to lose. And I still don’t have any health care. You tell me what’s better?

  • stratus commented on the blog post Obama Budget Splits The Democratic Party

This is true. There is only one party and it’s not really even the old Republican party. I don’t know why people continue to point to polls of what the American people want or don’t want. It doesn’t matter anymore as we have clearly seen. I don’t know what the answer is but I never could have imagined seeing this happen in the US. It is utterly depressing and I only see things getting worse.

The very poor will still be without health care in the states that refuse to expand Medicaid. Even in the states that plan to expand Medicaid, the details remain to be seen. I wouldn’t count my chickens before they are hatched.

Those extremely nasty comments were odd to see on FDL. I don’t know what prompted them but they sure stuck out to a casual reader like me. I don’t care for any of the Democratic cheer-leading articles on the front page but I certainly don’t go into the comments to trash the author. I skip [...]

  • I agree. I think it is pathological, more than just catering to the 1%. He seems to actually enjoy harming people. That is much scarier to me than just political asshole-ism or giving the rich what they want. A perverse desire to cause harm to as many people as possible for no good reason. I think they call people like that sociopaths.

  • What do we do about it? Why, more wars of course. We only spend more than all the other countries combined on defense. We need to double that asap. And collateral damage, no problem. We’re exceptional so we don’t care. You’re either with us or against us cause we’re number one. /

  • Why do you think only SS needs to be calculated out 75 years? Are you worried about how we’re going to be funding wars in the year 2088? I know it’s a popular talking point for social security but why the selective concern?

  • How about blaming the nutcase with the gun? You seem to imply that the shooter was the victim. I don’t like a lot of organizations but I don’t go around trying to murder people. A just cause still doesn’t make violence and murder acceptable. I find your article offensive.

I rarely log in but did this morning to rec this diary. Everything the diarist said is true. It doesn’t matter if he’s a newbie, a shill, or a space alien. Truth is truth. It seems to me that the only arguments the Obama supporters have is that someone else may have been or may [...]

  • I was having kind of a bad day then I read about Santorum saying smart people will never be on their side. I’ve been laughing my head off. Thanks. I needed that.

  • I don’t know how anyone can joke about drones and blowing people’s heads apart. The US population is full of people completely without a conscience. That boggles my mind even more than what the politicians do.

  • I’m so glad you guys are highlighting this and saw immediately the effects this can and will have on Medicaid. I am in a blue state but I’m still worried. Being eligible for Medicaid in 2014 would be the first time in 12 years that I would be able to get any health care so I have a keen interest. So many people in the US think that everyone below a certain income level can get Medicaid. That is simply not true. It’s very tough in my state to qualify.

Thank you for the answer. At the rate states are dropping all social services, I can’t see too many opting in. It affects me personally as being eligible for Medicaid in two years was basically my last best hope. Oh well.
