I wonder if we could elect a pres by write in votes???
If we had a candiate that enough of us voted on, one that is NOT from the 2 party system, then we could make a huge difference. Just think.

As Ophrah said, paraphrasing “who is promised a job for their entire life no matter how well they do that job” (talking about teachers), we need to change the length of time the Supremes judges serve.

WHat are ya going to do, have half the country fight the other half? The problem is the leaders, not the public, so how’s that rev going work?

sunshine commented on the blog post Obama Administration Sides With Big Oil on Fracking Disclosure
Yes, I haven’t forgotten that one either. Many here and others had to work hard to get BO and Hillary off the campaign trail and back to DC for the vote before the real vote on that bill, he voted the way we wanted and later turned around and did a flip flop and voted against it.

sunshine commented on the blog post Obama Administration Sides With Big Oil on Fracking Disclosure
I am not supporting BO, made that decission at the end of the 3,000 + health care bill with no public action, no closing of Guantanamo Bay,
an escalation in the war on terror… There is no one left for me to vote for. Obama’s mother would have been a better president that he is. -
sunshine commented on the blog post Sex and the Pols
Good article, thanks Glenn. I wondered the same thing, why are repub’s so obsessed with people’s sex lives. Repub Presidential candidate Bob Dole was the first face on tv that I saw advertising Viagra. My guess would be they use the number of abortions as dem voters lost and those that they influence to not use birth controll will mean more Rep voters in the future.
Pfizer Hires Bob Dole for TV Ad Campaign
BRIEFLY / PHARMACEUTICALS December 12, 1998|Associated Press
…The Dole ads mark Pfizer’s first use of television advertising associated with Viagra. The company is weighing whether to use any ads that directly mention the product. In May, Dole, 75, acknowledged he participated in the trials for Viagra, which he has called “a great drug.”
Weren’t the first trials for Viagra used for heart meds?

We are paying our taxes directly to large corps.
Happy Tax Day, SUCKERS!
In a theft so brazen you never imagined it possible, sixteen states allow
2,700 corporations to withhold the “state income taxes”
from employee paychecks and KEEP IThttp://blogs.reuters.com/david-cay-johnston/2012/04/12/taxed-by-the-boss/
Across the United States more than 2,700 companies are collecting state income taxes from hundreds of thousands of workers – and are keeping the money with the states’ approval, says an eye-opening report published on Thursday.

sunshine commented on the blog post Auto Industry Comeback: Creating the Conditions for Success
While “job shops” that make parts for the automakers bring in people from India by the hundreds, if not thousands, to (nearby) Detroit to work in their factories while Michigan has one of the largest unemployment rates in the country. And their is a language problem with these people. But on the bright side, they get to rent the houses the banks stold from Americans.

Thanks masaccio. Thanks for this article and having a place where we can leave our grievances of Dems. I too voted Dem for over 30 years and campaigned for and donated to. I have said for over a year and a half I will not be voting to give Obama GWB’s 4th term. The only way I would ever even consider voting dem for president is if Obama fired his COS and gave Michael Moore, (he already volunteered), Ralph Nader and Jane Hamsher White House ofices and took their advice and guidance and put it into action.
Some one needs to start a petition of us who will NOT be voting for Obama just to let him know the numbers will add us. Many people I know don’t follow politics and get the rundown from me so just me not voting is multiplied just as many of the posters on the page is.

sunshine commented on the blog post Late Night FDL: Cats, Kittens, Mittens and Santorum
Been getting blasted with repub calls this cycle here in MI. Never had that before. Got one of those robo calls today with lots of static in it that said send a message to our MI Gov that endorsed Romney and go vote for Santorum cause Dems weren’t having a primary. Thought the call was from Dems till I heard on CNN that it was Santorum’s robo call. Anyways, I thought that was a good idea and 3 of us did it. They had 3 ballots for us to choose from, Dem that didn’t have repub primary on it, a Repub one that did, and an Independant. I asked them what about my privacy voting rights. Dah, we don’t have any in a primary. I took the Repub ballot and still got to vote for a Dem in our District race.

Your post made me look Murtha up on wiki. Citizens for Responsibility (Crew) and Ethics in Washington listed him on the top 20 and top 5 list of most corrupt pols because of earmarks and steering defense dollars to his lobbying groups. Murtha convinced the military to change to MultiCam camouflage uniforms. 2 days after he died the military announced they would make the change. Who got the contract??? I always wondered why so many Senators, Represenatives, pols, etc went to the war zone. Now I figure they are just making deals for gov contracts. So we are not asking the correct questions during campaigns. We should ask who are you making deals with to get gov contracts. I have NEVER heard this question in a campaign, WHY NOT?

And Gingrich wants to put a base on the moon? Who can afford that? Is that why Rumsfeld said a few months back that the military budget is only 4% of GDP and should be 10%. We have seriously crazy fanatics in our gov/mil, we really do.
He called for NASA to devote 10 percent of its budget to prize money so the private sector would be incentivized to take the lead on spaceflight — making the mission such a frenzy that the country eventually holds several launches every day.

Very good article Kevin, thanks. I hope for Ethan’s success and safety.
From the video he seems like an honest, caring, person who found out the truth about the war and is making amends for his part in it. I wish him well.I also read the article on 5,200 Pentagon employees suspected of porn and think what a bogus lie so they can investigate their employees. What are they worried about that they want to search ALL their employees? Trying to stop whistle blowers, Anonymous, trying to stop an Arab Spring from happening here this spring/summer/election cycle???
We are ALL SUSPECTS ALL THE TIME now and they want us policing each other, according to this article:
Do You Like Online Privacy? You May Be a Terrorist
A flyer designed by the FBI and the Department of Justice to promote suspicious activity reporting in internet cafes lists basic tools used for online privacy as potential signs of terrorist activity. The document, part of a program called “Communities Against Terrorism”, lists the use of “anonymizers, portals, or other means to shield IP address” as a sign that a person could be engaged in or supporting terrorist activity. The use of encryption is also listed as a suspicious activity along with steganography, the practice of using “software to hide encrypted data in digital photos” or other media. In fact, the flyer recommends that anyone “overly concerned about privacy” or attempting to “shield the screen from view of others” should be considered suspicious and potentially engaged in terrorist activities.

sunshine commented on the blog post Another Insider Declares Deal Was Made to Stop Public Option
I’m going to the polls to vote for the proposals and admendments, but not voting for any dem (or repub). They make private deals with the devil (people who run/manage a biz or corp)in the shadows. When we hear “this pol has blah campaign dollars” we should be asking the nominees “who gave you money and what did you promise them”.
I decided at 1 1/2 yrs into O’s presidency not to vote for him and in the time since decided not to vote for the others that put this country in this mess. I believe there are consquences to ones actions.
