Frank Vicari commented on the blog post Herman Cain Comes Out in Favor of Choice, Effectively Ending Short-Lived Political Career
I’m sure Cain will just flip flop like he did about trading prisoners the day of the last debate.
At times, he’s as bad as Romney about it.

Keith absolutely nails it.
Personally, I’m glad he’s back on the air and it seems that now he can truly speak his mind with no limits.

Frank Vicari commented on the blog post Triumph of the Counter-Enlightenment
Great post Glenn.
I am consistently reminded of what Sen. McConnell said late last year…His single goal is to ensure that President Obama is a one term President. Today I am more convinced that the Republicans and the Tea Party will do anything, including destroying the country, to achieve that goal.
They are willing to open the hatch and flood the ship because destroying it will save everyone……

Frank Vicari commented on the diary post President Obama Doesn’t Understand the Origins of the Deficit by Dean Baker.
The report you cited (which was created in 1998 and only lists projections forward from them) did not take into effect both the TARP and the Stimulus – both programs started by Bush. Also, projections are only that…estimates based on what happens if nothing else happens. That’s the only way you can get an estimate [...]

Frank Vicari commented on the diary post Compromise with the Right? Why the hell should we? by oldionus.
In my opinion, it is compromise that is heart of how governing works. The United States is not 100% liberal… The United States is not 100% conservative… Some pundits say the nation is “center-left”, and others say we’re “center-right”. But the key statement there is “center”. The point is that all voices have a right [...]

I agree that what you posted is a legal way to resolve our crisis, but in my personal opinion to have a single coin to represent whatever value you want it to have without any real value behind (like the gold standard that we no longer follow) just doesn’t sound right to me. I respect [...]

Sorry, but in my opinion this is just another financial gimmick and doesn’t do anything to solve our problems or give any reassurance to the world financial markets.

It’s a little too late for that. It’s been made into a major issue by both sides. Now we have to resolve it.

Frank Vicari commented on the diary post What’s Wrong With You? An Open Letter to Congressional Dems and the President by letsgetitdone.
I’m sorry….but this just sound like another financial gimmick to me. We mint a coin, call the value whatever we want it to be, and point all our IOUs to that coin….and that coin has no real value to it except whatever value the Fed says it does. Why not mint a $1000 trillion dollar [...]

Frank Vicari commented on the diary post What’s Wrong With You? An Open Letter to Congressional Dems and the President by letsgetitdone.
I am not a economist, but isn’t this just the same as the Treasury printing a bunch of funny money (like its already doing) and then just telling everyone what its value is? The only difference is that this “coin” is sitting in a bank somewhere instead of in circulation? What real difference will that [...]

Frank Vicari wrote a new diary post: Why we can’t cut ourselves out of this financial crisis…a primer for Republicans.
…We have a spending problem, not a revenue problem… Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH)
How many times have we heard this statement, not just from Speaker Boehner but Republican after Republican. They claim that we can easily solve our deficit crisis by cutting our way out. That’s right, just a simple cut the fat [...]

Thank you for your comments as well. One of the issues that I have with the Tea Party (including just about everything they do), is that they are so polarized that they cannot abide by people questioning them. They feel that they are the only true “patriots” and that anything said against them is automatically [...]

Frank Vicari commented on the diary post On a Wing and a Prayer – Friday Debt Discussion Updates by Frank Vicari.
Unfortunately, we already saw how far a single-payer option went during the health care debates. We all know that it would be the best way to insure that Medicare will be around for all time, but the Republicans have always been against the Social Safety Net in any form since its inception. I read part [...]

Frank Vicari commented on the diary post On a Wing and a Prayer – Friday Debt Discussion Updates by Frank Vicari.
I was hoping that we would see a simple, clean debt ceiling raise and then once the economy turned around we could then address the situation. But instead, the Tea Party forced the Republicans to make a stand now and it is up to the President and the Democrats (and Senator Bernie Sanders!!) to stand [...]

Frank Vicari commented on the diary post On a Wing and a Prayer – Friday Debt Discussion Updates by Frank Vicari.
There are several reasons why this is a good time. First off, its a fight the Republicans have picked and one they can easily lose. They chose this time to be the time to make a stand on our deficit spending. President Obama is doing the right thing by taking this fight to the people [...]
