Good piece. But far to naively optimistic for me.
Syria is on The List. It’s going down. Just like Gaddafi, this guys toast. He’s on The List. Then finally Iran. Also on The List.
Thanks always for the updates on the situation.

I got no problem with this being recced. Can’t do it myself. Conscience and what not. That and it’s pure shite. I think this stuff should be shared widely because these people should share their “wisdom” and all should see their “wisdom”. The other option is they will scurry back under their rocks where they [...]

Vote for whoever you want. It does not matter! Vote O, they will still austerity us. They will go after SS and Medicare. Vote R, … and heh, surprise surprise, the second branch of the Corporatist party will do the same. Vote Snoopy, Santa, … and the same result. I know it will happen. Last [...]

And they made it into law.
Before, they just used to kill us and lie about it.
Now they no longer have to hide it. I guess this is what they think transparency means.

  • Hate to be the reality check, but this is still America, right?
Where money is law. Or am I paranoid and delusional?
Walker is getting money from every rich prick across the country, aka PACs, because if they can squash unions that easily than why not over the entire country. The amount he is spending dwarfs what his opponent is spending. Sorry, but this will be a close one, and I would bet money that Walker will win, and then he will be a juggernaut, and unstoppable.

(To union members, good job union douchebags, maybe that general strike wasn’t such a bad idea you tards, … so weak and pathetic while the 1% and their pawns take all that you have worked for, … from you and your children, … all of us and all of our children, … you can’t even fight back, heck you refuse to fight back, … good luck with the recall, because money has no effect in politics, right? … just beyond pathetic, … if you think you deserve it, then take it, … which you have been doing so well and the 1% is thankful whileyou roll over and play slave)

    6. BTW, forget to mention, congratulations on electing Golden Dawn. They’re anti-immigrant, legal or illegal, and proud of it. They ARE and HAVE formed “gestapo”-like groups that “hunt down” immigrants. Great piece on how they just stopped a public bus, ran inside, and “took care” of the immigrants. Just bloody amazing. Wow, nice comment. However we all know how this shakes out. Don’t we? 1. Don’t want austerity, and don’t want to leave the Euro. Delusion? Insanity? Halfwits? Take your pick. They are their own worst enemies. IMHO, they won’t leave the Euro, kabuki will ensue, and the Greeks’ lot will just get a whole lot [...]

“Sixty days have now come and gone since Pulpit Freedom Sunday 2011. That day is when 539 pastors from across the United States stood in their pulpits and proclaimed biblical truth about candidates and elections. The participating pastors recorded their sermons and sent them to the IRS in the hopes of generating a legal challenge to overturn the Johnson Amendment.

As of the time I write this blog, the IRS has not responded in any way to any of the pastors who participated in Pulpit Freedom Sunday. In fact, pastors have been participating in Pulpit Freedom Sunday since 2008 but no pastor has ever been punished or censored by the IRS for a Pulpit Freedom Sunday sermon.”

In addition, please read the author’s other articles. (Note, the writer and site are on the side of the church but they are very god at what they do.)

There are some very interesting assertions.
    1. To name one, are religions’ free-speech rights being violated even though they accepted tax-free status and accepted such a limitation?
    2. Can this acceptance even be legal? As in, is the contract itself, ie. getting tax-exempt status and “giving away” one’s rights, a violation of the Constitution?
    3. Can one give away their rights? Can any contract that stipulates such an action even be legal? Or constitutional?

Douchebag Freedom Day has been going on for years now. They literally sent the videotapes to the IRS. No one has ever been convicted of anything. And only one has been investigated.
They like the corps, own the place.

America is changing. And although many here (and elsewhere) may disagree and think that ChurchCo. should not be allowed to support electioneering, … how many of you actually think the facts, the bare un-adultured truth of the way America is right now, can be denied. Religions are actively involved in politics and the control of power. Since the 80s and before. That’s just a fact.
They won. The IRS refuses to investigate, much less convict, any of them. Even with evidence, sent by the priests themselves.
The law? They are the law. They don’t have to follow it. They don’t. They are not even inconvenienced by an investigation. No federal or state investigations. They own them both.

Note, the above links provide useful information as to the direction America is headed. That’s all. Maybe learning from it and preparing for what America is becoming is not such a bad idea. Can any of us still be in denial about the path that we are taking? And how’s that working out for us?
It’s time to dig in folks. Has been for some time. Dig in like an Alabama tick. Save. Even the pennies, save them. See a penny on the ground, pick it up. You will need it. We all will.
Their rules. Their “law”. Their country.

  • Unfortunately you are probably correct about the “justice” the 3 will receive.
And anytime a serious issue is brought forth … “state secrets”. Maybe they will get railroaded. Happened to and is happening to whistleblowers, and then there’s Manning (didn’t the prez say he’s guilty already, even before a trial?).
Even if they get lucky, and actually go free, those arrests will be with them for their whole lives. Good luck getting a job as an EMT then. Fuck, good luck getting a job at McDees with that “criminal” record.

“severe global edema (i.e., swelling) to both hemispheres of his brain” per the ME’s note. “In parallel, the perforated lymphatic system at that location means the lymph collects around the brain as that system also comes to a stop hence the brain edema.” I disagree with your above statement. Perforated lymphatic system at WHAT location? [...]

Yup. 20+ years of law and no action until it affected him. 1%er through and through. Or is this just more American selfishness, … I mean American exceptionalism. Until the Gods on high are inconvenienced, there is no change. Until it affects them personally they don’t care. A country of sociopaths, what could possibly go [...]

Although I am impressed that you have chosen to actually respond to the comments, I find the quality of your responses make it less impressive. Wow. This was a great piece. Good laugh. Both the piece and the comments. I’m still laughing inside. BTW, hotdog originally nailed it. A reply to his points would be in order. PS Bush was not dumb. No one can do what he did on luck alone, … or even mostly by luck. Walking and [...]

  • Agreed.
What they did is as irresponsible as expecting the USPS to fund its obligation forever. Different end of the spectrum, but both extremes.
And yes the Ds were complicit. But no shocker there. Different branch of the corporatist party.

  • On top of that, raising property taxes would happen alone. Corporate taxes will not go up. Only down. The same for the 1%.
They will keep laying off people, and gutting the tax base. Yup, they’re morons.
Or are they? Whole segments of various generations are being ground into the dust. Young, old, and all those in between. And it’s going to get worse.
My guess is that in 5-10 years there will be a spark. And then … well then I see the states fending for themselves. Circling the wagons. And then all the so-called “liberals” and so-called “conservatives”, and of course the so-called “independents” will fight it out, just like Mad Max. Of course then it won’t matter what you are. Everyone for themselves. States in the south will fall to theocracy. States elsewhere will fall to the 1%, who already own the place and most of the big guns. The police and armed forces work for the 1% so they’ve picked their side.
Ya ya, I know, classic apocalyptic BS. But that’s the “fun” awaiting us.
I personally want to be part of the grand kingdom of New York. I hear they will be giving out free ponies.

  • “Then again, one wonders how much “better” it is with “incrementalists” like Brown who are “incrementally” better than their opponents but not by much. Hard to say.”

Yes, the questions of incrementalism is troubling. But I don’t think it’s hard to say. Just ask, how’s it working for the people. And there’s your answer.

  • Hey folks. No worries, what could possibly go wrong?
We have the best and brightest at the helm.
It’s not like they almost destroyed the world economy, right?
I mean time and time again, they’ve shown they’re always correct, right?
    /s

When it falls … and it’s only a matter of time … it will be epic …

  • Brown’s a corporatist.
    He’s part of the problem.
Most of CA politicians are corporatists.
They’re also part of the problem.
Anyone else wonder why Brown and group didn’t institute single payer for CA?
They actively worked to stop it.

It’s not personal. It’s just business. Brown and his kind got theirs.
Whitman was bad news. Brown is just the lesser of evils. Ie. still evil. He will serve the 1% very well.

  • Well then …
Anybody else see what’s going on currently … and think this country has a chance?
