In other words, I was right. You just pulled that shit out of your ass.

    Case closed.

Also see complete bullshit like this:

Obama is closer to Ryan than anything left, so I think you are assuming something that I don’t comprehend. That could be my fault since since I don’t relate to the two-party intrigue, but I heard both are prepared to cut funding to SNAP and WIC.

..and I heard that the moon landing was faked. From this guy that this friend of mine knows who knows this other guy who knows things.

    Jesus.

We used to have more humor, we used to have front pagers talk more with us commenters about a post….

That was until FDL became a magnet for the highly aggrieved progressives who couldn’t write a comment without stringing together some combination of words that included, but weren’t limited to, ‘hegemony’ ‘empire’ ‘kabuki’ ‘oligarchy’ ’1%’ and blaming Obama for everything from clogged drains to pattern baldness.

Progressives have no sense of humor because they’re afraid to enjoy life because someone somewhere else may not be enjoying life as much and then they feel guilty. It’s a burden…

That site is a waste of bandwidth. I’m surprised anyone still looks at it.

20 million page views per month.

    But please…do go on.

But, please, more on this “someone” who “calculated” that the FBI is the largest distributor of child porn ” on the planet” because that is more interesting than them going back in time and “planting” kiddie porn on someone’s computer in order to set them up two [...]

My darker suspicions, though, involve the online spying done under our current surveillance state, the fact that child pornography is a trivial thing to plant on someone’s device without their knowledge, and upon “discovering” the planted evidence the arrested can be browbeaten by plea bargain into a “confession” (destroying any chance that they could become a [...]

  • So the post is about a completely dysfunctional GOP in the House and the first comment is:

    I blame Obama.

Never change, FDL comment threads, never change…

  • TBogg & alan1tx obviously are above protest. They just don’t understand why students would take the time to confront war criminals.

Look — I realize you don’t have a column to post your views here anymore, TBogg, but this is pathetic. Do you need an intervention? Let me know if there’s anything I can do.

I never said I was above protest. I just said that this whole post was based on a press release. Odd, seeing as you are a “journalist”, that you don’t see the need for corroboration. Actually not so odd since you have always been less than honest in your “reporting” which is merely advocacy borne of naïveté.

[Editor's Note: This comment has been edited to remove explicit language directed at writers here at FDL. Please refrain from such language.]

  • … and yet not one picture of the police beatdown. Strange, isn’t it?

    …as for BearCountry:

We have seen enough violent actions by police in nyc and elsewhere in response to non-violent protests that it is no stretch to assume that the actions are described accurately.

    Truthiness!

We’ve also seen fringe organizations make self-aggrandizing claims in press releases in the past in an attempt to gain traction and attention.

The fact is just quoting a press release is not journalism, or even good opinion journalism, whether the press release comes from Students Against Fascism and Other Bad Stuff or it’s from British Petroleum.

Press releases aren’t news …they are PR.

  • One would think that, if the students were “brutalized” “violently” arrested, that there would be video or photos as evidence rather than just repeating what someone put out in a press release. No iPhone shots or video? Surprising. And self-linking with repeated links to the same press release over and over does not a case make. Try getting a secondary objective source for verification next time, otherwise you’re not really reporting, your doing steno work.

In other words: pics or it’s just some drama-queens exaggerating for attention.

I’m not blogging here anymore pinhead. That doesn’t mean I don’t stop by and peek through the window at the bedlamites. I must say, you guys have turned the crazy up to eleven lately.

    Well done.

Obama is or at least was a long time smoker and loves to play basketball, period.

Odd. I would have sworn that Obama is known to be a huge fan of playing golf as is noted constantly. But basketball? That’s a dog whistle pitched to a certain kind of dog.

It’s racist, and you guys know it.

I don’t really want to wade into any food fights, but I fail to see how eCAHN’s comments about Obama smoking & playing basketball can be termed as “racism.”

Of course you can’t. I bet some of your best friends, who are black, can’t see it either.

Nah. It was seeing the Obama hatred manifest itself in antisemitism, trutherism, conspiracy theories, racism, ( I really enjoyed eCAHNomics comment the other day, you all should be so proud for letting it slide by) that Obama should stick to smoking and shooting hoops) and homophobia at FDL that called me back to point out what a cesspool the comments at FDL have become.

So don’t take it personally; you;re just a cog in the mob…

Try to stay focused on the real problem, the gutting of mainstream civilization for the benefit of the 1% and worry about the loose threads like gay rights later…

I know, let’s focus on completely altering the entrenched reality of our times instead of being concerned with the human rights of gays. I mean those fucking fags need to take a number and wait in line. We have bigger things to do.

Spoken like a true white bread progressive.
