Gregory Gadow commented on the blog post Judge Finalizes Ballot Language for Washington’s Marriage Referendum 74
You can thank the framers of the Washington Constitution for that. When a new law is pushed to the ballot as a referendum, whether by petition (as is usually the case) or by legislative action, the text of the measure is the law as it was passed and the only choice is yes or no to allow the law to go into effect. The ballot title and summary must accurately reflect the law, which is why this went to court: the Republican Secretary of State, Sam Reed, originally assigned biased and inaccurate language as the title and summary.

One should only speak good of the dead. (The rest, I leave as an exercise for the reader.)

Gregory Gadow commented on the blog post Andrew Breitbart Dead
I am sorely tempted to use the same language that he used when Senator Ted Kennedy passed. I would like to think, though, that I am a much better human being than that.

Gregory Gadow commented on the blog post Tuesday: Ninth Circuit ruling on Perry v. Brown case challenging the constitutionality of Prop 8
I know I’m being overly optimistic, but I have a fantasy: the court will rule in favor of equality and issue an “implement immediately” order (rather than stay for further appeals), rendering the whole discussion in Washington State irrelevant.

Gregory Gadow commented on the blog post Pastor Hutcherson: “I played football so I could hurt white people legally”
Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is impossible to express genuine fundamentalism that someone won’t mistake for a parody. – The inverse of Poe’s Law.

Gregory Gadow commented on the blog post Will NOM flout campaign disclosure laws in Washington like they have in so many other states?
Here is a law we need in Washington State: any person listed as an officer or official contact person of any organization that refuses to comply with Washington’s public disclosure laws is guilty of election tampering, defined as a Class C felony.
I may even put that forth as an initiative.

Gregory Gadow commented on the blog post NC anti-gay amendment supporter accuses gay men of molesting gerbils, baseball bats, and cell phones
I believe the correct term is “projection.” That is when you have deep-seated desires, fear them, and project those desires on to others so that you can do to them what you cannot do to yourself.
Remember, LaBarbera made a habit for YEARS of attending the annual International Men in Leather convention in Chicago, in “disguise” to “gather research” that he would publish piecemeal on his website over the next year until he could get fresh material. The man is a genuine, certifiable closet case.

Gregory Gadow commented on the blog post Must read: An Open Letter to Newt Gingrich From the Pastors of Poor Children
Gingrich’s comments were his “Let them eat cake” moment, completley lacking in any kind of compassion or understanding. Kudos to the pastors who speak out on behalf of the poor and vulnerable.

Gregory Gadow commented on the blog post The Roundup for January 22, 2012
Regarding Mitten’s tax returns: before 2010, you start to run into the massive Mormon funding for Prop h8 in California. I half expect he is under orders from the First Presidency not to disclose just how much of his personal wealth went into the imposition of theocratic hate.

Gregory Gadow commented on the blog post Ken Hutcherson likens Gov. Gregoire to President Lincoln’s Assassin
Abraham had children by two women; Jacob by four (only two of which were his wives.) In fact, men in the Bible almost always had multiple women with whom they could have legitimate offspring, monogamy was very much the exception.

Gregory Gadow commented on the blog post In the ‘what were they thinking’ dept: Rick Santorum launches C.U.M.
If you are practicing safe sex, there should never be any C.U.M. in your Santorum.

Gregory Gadow commented on the blog post UPDATE: NC elections official resigns rather than facilitate the marriage discrimination amendment
Nonetheless, they have a proven track record of funding regressively conservative politicians and causes. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, swims like a duck and has feathers like a duck, calling it a horse does mean it’s a horse.

Gregory Gadow commented on the blog post Second Republican State Senator, Cheryl Pflug, Signs on to Washington’s Marriage Equality Bill
Contacting my Olympia delegation won’t do any good. I live in the 43rd District, and my senator, Ed Murray, and one of my representatives, Jamie Pedersen, are sponsors of the bill. My other representative, Frank Chopp, just tells constituents to go away and bother someone else: he’s Speaker of the House and is too busy to deal with actual voters.

Gregory Gadow commented on the diary post GOP is Learning that Corporations Lie by Peterr.
Boeing did the same thing in 2003 to Washington State, bribing then Governor Gary Locke and the state Legislature to grant more than $4 billion dollars in tax subsidies on the promise that they would remain in Washington, while secretly laying groundwork to move huge parts of their executive and manufacturing operations out of state.

I would recommend passing on the popcorn: between the idiocy of Hutcherson and the hilarity of Savage’s responses you be gasping for breath, and popcorn would be a dangerous choking hazard.
