TEHelms commented on the diary post 11 – 11 – 11 – 11 – 11 by MonicaHelms.
Monica, I too am a “Helms”…son of an Army WWII veteran, father of a Marine veteran and an Army veteran myself. If Helms is your married name, I would like to ask where your spouse’s relatives are from and where you live? I’m in Florida but come from the NC Helms clan in Union County. [...]

TEHelms commented on the blog post Liz Cheney: Barack Obama Inherited a “Victory in Iraq”
Here’s what’s going on here regarding Iraq: No matter what happens it will be the President’s fault according to the rightwingnuts. If Iran has major influence (hah, like they won’t?) it will be the President’s fault. If they have civil war (very likely) it will be the President’s fault. If there is a working government, it will be because of Bush invading in the first place. That’s a crazy world those like Liz Cheney and her father live it!

Liz Cheney is an amazingly stupid woman.

TEHelms commented on the blog post The Poll Result that Should Scare the Obama Campaign the Most
I’m leaving now because just a crazy as the teabaggers are on the fight fringe many of you here now are on the left fringe. This election will come down to a choice and be decided by the middle and of which few of you are. You want to give up and have a Republican from that clown lineup elected? I’m really worried for this country now.

So you want to give up to give them more?

Well, so many of you looking at this say “let’s give up and let them have the Presidency” and that is what you are going to get. You wanted a pure left wing president, thought you had one and are now going entirely the other way by giving up. People, you can’t elect a pure left wing president and never could. We need to re-elect Obama and let him know what we want; not elect a Romney, a Perry or a Christy! All of them are worse than Bush ever thought of being if that is even possible!

Then I have to give you the famous Pogo quote: “We have met the enemy and he is us.”

And you don’t seem to grasp how much worse the real thing would be…

I think I have stumbled onto the “Human Events” website…you guys are nuts here too!

TEHelms commented on the blog post The Poll Result that Should Scare the Obama Campaign the Most
So I guess that means what all of you want is a Republican president in place so what will get done is further cuts to social programs, more wars, more tax cuts for the rich, less education, no infrastructure, an end to abortion rights, oligarchy, a voucher system for medicare/medicaid/social security and corporations deciding all elections, right?
Pathetic.

TEHelms commented on the blog post NYT: Soufan Book Adds to Charges CIA Kept 9/11 Terrorist Info from FBI
When you get to the details of what is done you have to take a great deal of time describing what “enhanced interrogation methods” entail. I don’t think there was any harm done by Ms. Maddow in applying what we all know is either leading up to torture or falling just short of it. On the other hand, the phrase “waterboarding” was used separately and it was made clear when that was being discussed.

TEHelms commented on the blog post NYT: Soufan Book Adds to Charges CIA Kept 9/11 Terrorist Info from FBI
Jeff, I have somewhat of a different read on Soufan’s comments regarding “enhanced interrogation techniques.” I don’t hear him saying he is OK with them but knowing that the FBI regards any technique that might obstruct or interfere with a clean criminal prosecutorial path leads me to believe Soufan would not approve of them and not use them. He clearly says he doesn’t believe they work to the degree his methods do and would not and did not use them.

TEHelms commented on the blog post GOP Debate Audience Apparently Really Loves Killing People
We know he’s all about throwing red meat to his base and that’s OK with me since it just makes him less electible in a general. Look, you may be from Texas and I don’t want to paint you with a broad brush, but if you think the President is a radical in comparison to Perry, you need to get out of that region of the country for awhile. The rest of the electorate is going to see Perry for what he is; a swaggering, thin-skinned bully who has a terrible record and brags about it.

Surprised? No, I’m not surprised. What I’m surprised about it that they didn’t have a prayer before they began and another one before they applauded. Hypocrites, every damn one of them.

That’s what I said and they were extended and the President made the case why he went along with that. They aren’t permanent and barring another extension, will expire for everyone.

Ellsberg was a civilian and there lies a huge difference. As to content, I don’t know all of it but I’m sure there is stuff there that is harmful and stuff there the government just didn’t want exposed now. Does the government classify stuff we would be better off knowing and having it subjected to the public light? YES!

I can’t agree with your conspiracy theory but your overall thoughts I certainly understand. Speaking truth to power always has and always will be a dangerous undertaking.

I didn’t say I disagree with what he exposed..I’m just telling you how it works in there. You may not like it but it isn’t the civilian world and it is serious business. I once dropped a top secret memo in an unsecure area and it was four hours of questioning before I could go back to my work even though someone with a clearance picked it up!
