ACA does nothing to control costs. It does insure continued growth of profits by the “health industry.” Allowing the drug makers to set price while forbidding imports and government bargaining to lower the cost of drugs cost a trillion a decade; Obama’s gift to PHARMA. In spite of what Obama says ACA does nothing to prevent bankruptcies due to medical expenses ( now 62% of all bankruptcies in the US with about 80% of those have medical insurance). What we have is a market based plan which was formulated by the Heritage Foundation to head off single payer which will result in an estimated 30 million uninsured and a plethora of underinsured that will be vulnerable to financial ruin. As for Jared Bernstein, he tries to play it both ways, appearing to be a liberal while supported the ACA and social security cuts via chained CPI.

Making the rich pay 30% on income doesn’t mean much since the super rich make most of their money from capital gains which is now taxed at 15%.

  • Obama’s presidency has largely been a continuation of the Bush policies. In fact with regard to civil liberties, he’s gone even futher stripping away the priciples of the Magna Carta, prosecuting whistle blowers, escalating the war on terror, giving the banksters legal immunity, giving us a health care bill designed by the Heritage foundation in response to Hillary care, failure to stem the foreclosures, not having a plan to put Americans back to work, signing a two year extention of the Bush tax cuts etc.etc. His reversal of campaign promises and sucking up to the financial elite has virtually opened the door for a Romney presidency.

  • While this ruling has been declared a victory for the people, it should be noted that the biggest winners are big Pharma and the health insurers. Make no mistake, their interests are well represented in the Affordable Care Act.

The laws of the land have been inverted and Holder is the one giving legal immunity to white collar criminals.

In a recent interview with Bill Black on The Real News, Bill Black called holder a thug, an attorny general who was in the mold of Alberto Gonsalez, and Ed Meese. And of course his ocuupations during private life centered on the financial sector.

While Romney is clearly the worst of the two, who wants another four years of Obama. For those who remember his last campaign should have learned that his promises and words mean nothing. He is another representaive of the corporate elite. Such are the fruits of a one party system.

While the constituton gives us the right of political expression it doesn’t mean much when the police are encouraged to use pepper spray, drag peoples faces across the cement, beat them with their baton, destroy their personal property etc. What the establishment wants is for people to think twice before execerising their so called rights. In NYC, JP Morgan and other banks have given the NYPD millions to purchase more crowd controlling devices. In other words these police are directly representing the bankers and others in the upper.01%. This is nothing new in the history of the US which has a violent labor history, has displayed violence during the civil rights movement, the anti- Vietnam War movement and all the other movements. repression is the tool of the upper 1% to achieve their dominance. For the most part, a major policy of the universities and other well placed intelligencia is to justify the ineqaulity and injustice of our governmental policies which are always to take care of the corporations and wealthiest among us and the hell with everyone else.

The political horse race really doesn’t matter. Whoever gets elected the 99%er’s will be screwed. I’d never vote republican, but the Obama administration view is that people’s suffering is an afterthought. I believe high unemployment and knocking the hell out of the people’s well being is what the elite want. Obama lied to us to get elected and the plan seems to be for him to represent the oligarchs and plutocrats while he keeps the presidential seat warm for the next republican president. The government has been so corporatized that the vote is meaningless. Thats why we have Occupy Wall St.
