Up With People – my first thought exactly. My remembrance of them is an album from the late 1960s or early 1970s that my grandparents had. Your link is to a 1982 performance. I looked them up on Wikipedia and found that, indeed, their most successful decade was the 1980s – I didn't realize they lasted that long. Since Up With People was an organization, not a band, I wonder who the performers were on the LP. Catchy tunes, but the organization was a break-off from Moral Re-Armament (MRA), kind of the Moral Majority of its day.

Lani Guinier was the turning point for me with Clinton – never a word in her defense. I left the President slot blank in the 1996 election and just voted for Gore for Vice President and the rest of the Democratic ticket on down the line.

The ENDA bill did NOT include protection for transgender people. There was a big discussion of this at AMERICAblog a couple of years ago, initiated by John Aravosis, who worked on the legislation. Right. I was wondering about that in Dean’s post. I’ve been on Social Security for several years and there have been no COLAs in that time, despite grocery store and gas prices going up and up.
