I certainly hope that Nancy Pelosi cannot convince most Democrats to risk their seats
You do understand, don’t you, that the worst part of cutting Social Security is sending millions of senior citizens into poverty, NOT the loss of seats by Democratic politicians, don’t you? If not, shame on you.

But Obama and the other Democrats copied some of Bush’s tax cuts. Then they sought cuts in Social Security and Medicare to help pay for those cuts. Not to mention the billions being funneled to the wealthy with quantitative easing, the lack of Wall Streeters prosecuted for financial crimes, the no-strings-attached bonuses, no help for unions, etc.

Exactly. He has the courage to make a statement but not to sign an executive order banning discrimination against gay Americans by federal contractors. But signing a piece of paper is too hard, apparently.

Thanks! I like you too. Good luck in finding work. I’ve been looking for over a year, myself.
I’m sure all the union-busting job-offshoring free trade deals Obama has been negotiating and signing will do wonders for the job market.

You privileged folk sure love projecting.
Apparently, supporting a president who blows up people on the other side of the world in the hopes that he will give people at home more benefits is an act of moral courage. Who knew?

“Yep, I’m sure Romney was just waiting to come out for gay marriage before Obama went and ruined it by beating him to it.”
Considering how many prominent Republicans–like Dick Cheney of all people–were in favor of gay marriage long before now, that is an insupportable statement.

“Shorter TBogg: it is okay when Obama kills the scary brown people.”
As long as none of them are gay, I suppose it’s alright.

“Friedersdorf doesn’t seem to care one iota about the horrible economic and social policies a Romney administration would enact”
But since Obama’s economic policies have been so much worse than George W. Bush’s, there is no standing to claim that Romney’s would be worse.
Growth of Income Inequality Is Worse Under Obama than Bush « naked capitalism
As for social policy, Obama’s signature achievement was copied from Romney’s signature achievement.
“The fact that the social agendas of Obama and Romney with regard to the poor, the elderly, women, gays, the middle class, and college students are as different as night and day doesn’t factor into his equation”
Obama’s administration banned over-the-counter sale of the Plan B pill and wrote abortion restrictions into the Affordable Care Act. Obama has offered cuts in Social Security and Medicare to the Republicans to get their help in his precious fight against the deficit. His administration has fought hard to keep the Defense of Marriage Act in place and dragged its feet on repealing Don’t Ask Don’t Tell until gay Americans threatened to withhold their donations. He and his appointees are perfectly alright with removing teachers’ unions from schools and replacing them with corporatization of education.
But at least Obama also kills innocent people with missiles too.

Look out, police! We have a president who is a real crusader in terms of prosecuting torturers! ! ! ! !

All over the net today people are aghast at what contempt Mitt Romney has for average Americans. Meanwhile Obama and his team are fighting for the right to lock up average Americans forever, based only upon their say-so. And of course, Obama believes he can have any American killed that he wants, without trial or even a criminal charge.

Lousy Republicans, not changing anything after the collapse!
What’s that? Oh.

America has been firing missiles at innocent people in the Middle East for years…and the people there are now mad at us?!?!?!? I’m so, so shocked.
And let’s not forget that, a month ago, England was considering violating another country’s embassy to get Julian Assange. If the West doesn’t consider embassies off-limits, why should anyone else?

TK421 commented on the blog post Obama Holds Solid Lead in the Three Biggest Swing States
Thank goodness! If Obama had lost, that might have discouraged future Democrats from assassinating American citizens, locking people up indefinitely without trial, and funneling money to rich corporations!

“Progressives in turn explain that these events are a direct result of drone killings because it fits within their narrative”
Is that an unreasonable thing to say? For years we’ve been killing innocent people in Yemen, then there was a riot at our embassy in Yemen. Am I to believe that’s a coincidence?

It would have been nice if 3 years of continuing Bush policies, plus assassinating American citizens and signing an indefinite detention law, would result in a closer election. Oh well.

I agree with what has been written above. Also, has Obama ever had a Plan B? It seems like he never has a backup plan; maybe he’s too lazy.
