Great point. With all the attention to the START treaty last year, it’s useful to remember that our trade agreements create the most powerful and enforceable system of international law. In fact, a government study (from the U.S. International Trade Commission – http://www.usitc.gov/publications/332/pub4125.pdf) published last year found that, between 2002 and 2007, the growth of small business exports to the NAFTA countries was much slower (at 70.8%) than the growth of total small business exports to the world (at 96.7%).
