& there is a shorter version of Mike McCann’s argument in a book entitled “Fault Lines” a comparative analysis of tort law & culture.

Thanks. I’ll request it for the library tomorrow.
We have a local case here, where a grad student got very ill after eating one bite of a Jimmy John’s turkey wrap w/ mayo, after he specified no mayo & condiments because of allergies. I talked to his lawyer about the McD case similarities. The Chicago Tribune ran a story w/ important details (wrap not sub sandwich, one bite, specified no mayo, during deposition JJ testified that they were not a food service company). 98 of the first 100 comments said this was like the McD because ‘the idiot should have looked in the sub sandwich, he shouldn’t have eaten it all, etc.” Several made reference to McD, all assuming “facts” directly contradicted by evidence.
You are doing great work–please keep it up!! -

Hi, & great thanks for your work. I have been teaching Sociology of law & related courses for years. I begin w/ the McDonald’s case, and use it to teach students that “It isn’t what you don’t know that gets you in trouble, but what you think you know that is wrong that really creates problems.
I hope to show parts of your movie in class, if you don’t mind.
