tomonthebay commented on the blog post Remarks by NAACP national on marriage equality: this is one of the key civil rights struggles of our time
NAACP has become nothing more than another mouthpiece for the DNC.

tomonthebay commented on the blog post WI-Gov: Plenty Evidence of Walker’s Conduct Demanding Removal From Office
Defanging the public sector unions is probably the most important step taken to get Wisconsin spending under control. Under Thompson spending was irresonpsible. Under Doyle it was even more out of control. Now the taxpayers have a chance.

Thankfully, and understandably, the Republicans will never allow D.C. to become home to 2 permanent Dem senate seats.

Dad’s side came from Germany in late 1870′s. There is a great-great uncle that was a cannoneer at the siege of Paris. Mom’s side came over from the Emerald Isle in the 1850′s.

I thank God that the convents that are growing are orthodox, and that the LCWR is fading away.

What part of not supposed to be here don’t you people get? Follow the rules and you are welcome. Don’t, then don’t whine when the consequences bite you.

Yep, so my vote for Romney in the general will be unenthusiastic, except for the happy dance if O loses.

Why does Jimmy always have to double-down on being wrong?

tomonthebay commented on the blog post Day After Blunt Amendment, Republicans Vow “Fight is Not Over”
Robgard, most hospitals are non-profits, whether religious affiliated or not, so Catholic hospitals have no tax advantage over any other nonprofit hospital. This is about the power of the state to force religious organizations to do what the government wants it to, and religious beliefs be damned. I hope like hell that this fight isn’t over. I work for a Catholic hospital and one of the reasons is that I don’t have to worry about being asked to participate in abortions.

tomonthebay commented on the blog post Santorum Does as Well as Romney in General Election Polling
5$/gal gasoline = Republican president and it won’t matter which one gets the nomination. Even Paul can beat Obama if gas hits 5 bucks.

tomonthebay commented on the blog post Remember Vatican II
While I have some issues with Humanae Vitae, I have found through my 50 some years that I love my Catholic Church and faith more and more. As for as the teaching on abortion, I find the Church teaching to be undoubtably correct. The voice of the people is not always correct. The culture should never be the final arbiter on church teaching or truth.

tomonthebay commented on the blog post Bring back ye olde wire hanger
Even today, those who legally perform abortions are at the bottom of the pecking order in the medical world. It may be legal, but it isn’t respected (and rightly so). In fact, many of those physicians who are working as abortionists can’t hold a position anywhere else. A significant portion of them are incompetent hacks.

tomonthebay commented on the blog post White House, Surrogates Push Back on Catholic Bishop Uproar Over Contraception
Our (Catholic) hospitals and universities are part of our mission. Since these are Catholic hospitals and universities created as part of the Catholic missiion, they should have every right to demand that their religious rights be respected. This is absolutely an attack on our faith and principles. We are not telling people they can not use birth control, just that we aren’t going to pay for it.

My public school teacher wife and I will both be voting to retain Walker. We are both pleased that someone finally defanged the public sector unions.

tomonthebay commented on the blog post If the Governor Will Veto Your Marriage Equality Bill, Why Bother?
Sounds like the referendum should be to amend the state constitution to make marriage constitutionally defined as between a man and woman. There, problem solved.

tomonthebay commented on the blog post Mittens money fuels anti-gay organizations including his church, which led the charge for Prop 8
I applaud his devotion to his church, even if I believe that Mormonism is a cult. The values of the Mormons I have known have been ones that I have been able to embrace. Of course, I am a member of another hateful church, being a tithing member of the Roman Catholic church.
