Travis Disaster commented on the blog post Live Blog for #OccupyWallStreet: Day Fifteen, Mass Arrest of Protesters on the Brooklyn Bridge
yes but now the top story on the main page is Pam Spaulding promoting her interweb personality- doesn’t this software have a “sticky” feature?

Why isn’t this on the front page? C’mon, FDL, priorities.

Travis Disaster commented on the blog post So how was the speech?
Oh, I know the actual reason, but has anyone ever provided a policy reason? Why is my retirement less valuable than that of my ancient neighbor?

Travis Disaster commented on the blog post So how was the speech?
Obama claimed we have to cut Medicare “while protecting current beneficiaries”- I don’t get this meme (and yes I asked this question at another blog)…Has anyone ever offered an explanation as to why current Medicare recepients are protected while, say, I, have to eat shit on these deals? I know it’s a political ploy, but has any politician ever explained why people who are currently old are so much more important than I am?

>no amount of help from D.C. would have mattered
luckily, “no amount” is exactly how much help the President provided

I feel as if perhaps the midwest, and perhaps by extension the nation, is irredeemable. American democracy is powerless in the face of corporate oligarchs and their enablers in organized religion. At this point I’d welcome a schism of the nation with open arms. The fame, was rigged but we gave it our best. Some [...]

Can’t leave the country due to stupid immigration laws, can’t move to Vermont because it’s too damned cold. Best I can hope for at this point is for the #3 bus to clip me on its way down town. Thanks, Democrats.

Guys, TBogg is right, after all, being the victim of a crime has magically turned Gabby Giffords from this person into a glorious creature of light, beyond criticism. Also everyone is supposed to shut up about the President, unless they can craft a whimsical Garrison Keiler-styled anticdote about lawnmowers. Old men on the internet, part XXXVIII….

Elijah Cummings’ office didn’t have a position. I vowed to never support him or any candidate he backs if he votes for this screwjob.

So, Jane, what do we do instead? You’re a bold voice and some (including myself) would say that you’re a leader- please lead. You have the voice and a good deal of cache- help us fix this. If you want Bernie’s (figurative) head on a pike, hand us a (figurative) sword…

Travis Disaster wrote a new diary post: An Open Letter to My Representative, My Senators, and the Rest of the Democratic Party
Mr. Cardin, Ms. Mikulski, Mr. Cummings, et al: It is with a heavy heart and, sadly, a lack of surprise that I find myself drafting this missive. To put it quite simply: if Democrats, and especially those who are supposedly my representatives in the U.S. Congress, choose to vote for cuts to the social safety [...] -
Travis Disaster commented on the blog post Obama to Eliminate Elizabeth Warren as Head of Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
I’d like Grayson/Warren but for some reason Mr. Grayson is convinced that Florida deserves his undivided attention.
