tuezday commented on the blog post Pentagon Has CNN Interview Female Guard on How Detainees are Abusing Guards at Guantanamo
Recall, Occupy was accused of throwing urine and feces. How the hell does one throw urine anyway? Considering these detainees have been on a hunger strike for months, and are being force fed liquid, I’m guessing their feces isn’t very throwable either.
I honestly think the point is for them to all die at Gitmo. There is no other way to look at the treatment of the detainees. At the very least, those that have been cleared, should not be treated as prisoners.

And another thing, would a pen even write on the slick plastic found inside a boat?

The “officials who have knowledge of the situation” really need better script writers. Since the whole point in covering a boat is to keep the elements off it, including the sun, I’d imagine it would be too dark under there to write a confession. Now I’ll also say, that besides toilet paper, a magic marker [...]

Has anyone else noticed that 2 centuries of praying to God has gotten us no where? I’m thinking the Xtians should give up on God, and start working on Jesus. That would free up Allah, as he’d only be dealing with 2 opposing factions, and not three. Maybe then humanity could get somewhere.

My tin foil hat has issues with FB. Twitter I’m holding out on, as my hat says it will become the next FB. But had FDL been down any longer, I’d have had my husband look into it on FB. I came home from the grocery store yesterday with a flat tire on his truck, so no FB love from him. He was patchin’ the tire.

My thing is I don’t do facebook, almost signed on to twitter. would have signed on to twitter if it had lasted any longer.

My mom is seriously threatening to visit me. Lets see, my husband and I both work nights, my mom is on a set “schedule” for no good reason, breakfast at 8, lunch at noon, dinner at 5; we don’t get up until noon, if we can help it. I eat dinner for breakfast if I make anything before the spousal unit goes to work. The carpets need cleaning, we have no guest room, the dog needs grooming…

I saw you gettin’ your fix at Marcy’s place. I was just hoping someone, somewhere would say “what the hell happened to FDL?”, since we have a tendency to all frequent the same places.

I figured it was a server issue, based on the DNS error. Also figured the behind the scenes PTB, i.e., Jane, was pissed as hell. At least cars slowly go bad, computers, here today, gone tomorrow.
My mom and her iPad are still not doing well. She has at least agreed to drive to the Apple store. She gave me a couple more gray hairs today, over what is so easy for you and me.

tuezday commented on the diary post Another Leak Props Up Government’s Boston Bombing Narrative by E. F. Beall.
And now, “U.S. officials briefed on the investigations” told the Wall Street Journal yesterday that in its initial alert to the US about Tamerlan Tsarnaev in 2011, Russia withheld the assertion that he had sent text messages expressing a desire to join militant anti-Russia groups in the Caucasus. The article quotes House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike [...]

I’ve accepted the fact I will never know what all my new iPod will do. But here’s the thing, there is absolutely no difference between an iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, except the ability to make cell calls. However, there are apps for that. And I don’t have to have a data plan, just wifi.

See, there is that too. The problem is trying to get her to wrap her head around all this.

Send a group email to everyone you know on AOL and inform them of your new email addy, on another service, keep AOL for six months or a year to capture anyone who didn’t get the initial change of address, and you are good to dump AOL.

Speaking of phone lines, my mom thought she could get rid of the cell phone, keep the landline and add an internet connection. I said no, dump the land line, keep the cell phone for emergencies and use the iPad for all your non-emergency phone calls. With google talk, she can call all over the world for free on the iPad but google talk isn’t good for emergencies. Also, all her utility lines are underground, so storms wouldn’t knock out service. She should be able to port her land line phone number to her cell phone. She didn’t want to get a new number.

I think the only reason AOL survives is old people who got comfortable with it and still pay, even though it’s free.

I suggested she go visit an Apple Genius Bar, as that is free. Until she has wifi, she can’t authenticate the iPad, and she may as well let Apple do it. I can talk her through setting up the router, I googled it before having it shipped to her, rather than shipping it to me to set it up, but she has to be able to set up the iPad first. I suggested, also, she ask her young neighbor to help her get going, as it will only take a second, if she has wifi. But the Genius Bar can teach her a few things and help her out, so I think she should try that.

My mother could never grasp the idea of what a file even was. Your mom has mine beat. About 15 years ago we gave her an old Mac and set her up to use our AOL dialup account (yes, it was that long ago), after about 6 months I bought her webtv and reclaimed the Mac. Webtv worked well until she got sick of all the spam in her email and she ditched that a few years ago.

So this morning, my 80-year-old, Luddite mother wakes up and can’t wait a second longer to enter the 21st century, for the third time. She went out and bought an iPad. However, her turbo charged drive onto the computer superhighway, soon hit a brick wall. Rather than flowers for mother’s day, I’ve sent her an AC adapter so she can charge it and a wireless router, so she can use it, once she has internet service at her house.
I’m hoping, since this is an iPad, I will not get the gray hairs her last 2 attempts at computer use caused me.
