At least one government agency is based in reality. Emphasis mine.
This is an archival or historical document and may not reflect current policies or procedures.

Twonine commented on the blog post FBI Makes Odd Sequester Claim Regarding Wall Street Crime
The laughter apparently started in 2008 with no end in sight.
Tony Adamski, the FBI’s former head of financial crime investigations, said Thursday that he had more than 1,000 agents dedicated to financial crimes during the savings and loan scandal of the 1980s and early 1990s — a crisis that pales in comparison with today’s financial meltdown.
When told Thursday how many agents the bureau now has working the problem, Adamski, now retired, broke into a gale of rueful laughter.

Twonine commented on the blog post Madeleine Albright Supports Drones Because American Lives More Precious Than Other Lives
Senator King is apparently of the Albright school. He told Candy Crowley that if you are not American you are not a person.
The fifth amendment says that no person shall denied life, liberty or property without due process of law. It says that. And it’s pretty clear. It applies to Americans. And that’s what we’re talking about here, American, not foreigners.

Thanks Kevin.
With Binney’s talk, the crony capitalist aspect of paying contractor’s to do things less well and more intrusively for much more $$ stood out.
Papantonio & Kennedy have a good discussion on whistle blowers, which touches on Lincoln’s and Nixon’s involvement. Apparently, Nixon’s playbook is still around.

Who’s going to play drums for KRUGMAN & THE FIREBAGGERS now? I have the band’s picture on my office wall. It gives me a chance to explain to office mates and clients who they are and how excellent they are at what they do.

Twonine commented on the diary post We Used to Make the Rich Poorer and the Poor Richer by David Swanson.
In Charles Derber’s “Hidden Power” he describes U.S. Modern Regimes as:
First Corporate Regime, 1865-1901 – Gilded Age John D. Rockefeller and J.P. Morgan built this house. Progressive Regime, 1901-1921 – Progressive Era Teddy Roosevelt busts the trusts in this house. Second Corporate Regime, 1921-1933 – Roaring Twenties Harding and Hoover turn the house back to [...]

Twonine commented on the diary post Open Letter to Michael Moore: Drop Obama, Support Jill Stein by Dennis Trainor Jr.
From “unknowing pawn” Chris Hedges:
Liberal apologists for Barack Obama should read Judge Forrest’s 112-page ruling. It is a chilling explication and denunciation of the massive erosion of the separation of powers. It courageously challenges the overreach of Congress and the executive branch in stripping Americans of some of our most cherished constitutional rights.

Thanks. I will check out MoveToAmend as well. That’s another reason I give Thom Hartmann a pass on his status as an election season Obama apologist; If he never does another thing right, he did write “Unequal Protection: The Rise of Corporate Dominance and the Theft of Human Rights”.

Twonine commented on the diary post Open Letter to Michael Moore: Drop Obama, Support Jill Stein by Dennis Trainor Jr.
Thanks Dennis, I can understand the pragmatism of a Jim Hightower or Thom Hartmann given their understanding of past history of “make me do it”. I think Hightower would acknowledge the bait and switch nature of an Obama campaign. Hartmann and Moore – not so much. I don’t think there is an FDR bone in [...]

Twonine commented on the diary post The Case Against the Case for Obama by cassiodorus.
In Charles Derber’s book Hidden Power, he notes Bush Sr., Clinton, Gore and Kerry “all play normal politics” where Roosevelt, Reagan, Kucinich and Nader “played regime change politics”. Obama is just one more cog in the neoliberal normal politics machine. I support Stein monetarily and with my vote to move toward regime change. We can’t [...]

No discussion but Jill Stein did get in “The climate is in meltdown”, “wars for oil we don’t need”, “advancing critical solutions”, “peaceful, just, green future” (and jobs) at 24+ minutes in during the belated opening statement.

Thank you Glenn for highlighting the continued theft of the commons. Woe for The Charter of The Forest, Magna-Carta, and The Constitution.
David Bollier’s book “Silent Theft” and his other work on the commons along with http://onthecommons.org/ are good resources on the topic for those interested.

All the little pragmatisms get together and breed and, fed on their main diet of election season angst, grow exponentially; choking out all other life forms.
