Where are the public sector unions??? Anyone heard from them? Trumka? HEEELLLOOOOO anyone home???

Anyone want to bet that the unions and the AFL-CIO will ccontinue to pour $ into dem’s campaigns??? Unions wonder why their numbers are dropping like a rock. THIS IS WHY. At least in Wisconsin the union were out by the tens of thousands.

What I havent heard is what are the unions doing about this? Lawyers? Massive rallies? Strike? I’d say they better get out in front of this real quick.

Why doe s she and anything she says MATTER? She holds no office, is not running for anything yet and is nothing but a narcistic moron with a big mouth. I just don’t see why the media follows her around lie a puppy dog.

AZ just sucks. Their fu—- up laws, their hate, their politics, the fact that they have pulled transplant money from 100 sick people-2 have died so far-, their lax guns laws, lack of mental health services-all the way around the place sucks.

So it’s one big race to the bottom as far as wages go? Can you raise a family on $7.35 an hour? I was a public service employee for 12 years and proud of my service. The average salary at my university is 30K a year for regular workers. Went for 5 years so far with no raises—but food is going up,gas, elecric everything but those workers are expected to maintain on 5 year old wages?

You are right in one respect. The muckity mucks in higher education and in state government are pulling in huge salaries. Huge. The prez of this university makes 10M a year? But the landscaper makes 20K if lucky.

yup. But it would also be about living wages, hours, not just pensions because folks who have no pensions couldn’t care less about those that have one.

I see this coming in Europe–I mean they’ve already taken to the streets-but not here. Maybe when unemployment reaches 25% or so Americans will rise up or wake up.

That’s why it has to be public AND private workers. Everyone. Pilots, truckers, bank workers, utility workers, cops. The big problem is with our current police state, the military would be in the streets–unless they refused to turn on their families and friends.

It would be a grand mess but this country would grind to a halt. I’m not sure we’re so bad that a military person or cop would shoot a citizen for walking off the job peacefully. And that’s key. No guns, no signs, no rally. Just walk off and go home.

Obviously jobs is the answer but not WalMart jobs. Hell it’s gotten so bad folks are GRATEFUL to work at Burger King. We have been beat down to nothing. The unemployed don’t even expect a decent job in their field. Now we’re grateful to work at McDonalds 10 hours a week.

Sucks.

Strikes usually work but i also remember the UFCW strike in CA and those guys were out for months and eventually the union caved I think. Their strike pay money ran out. And they flew in scabs.

Currently there aren’t enough union members for a nationwide strike to have much impact and scabs would cross any picket line for a job. They could fire 1M people but not 100M.

Sweeney was not so hot either. Trumpka is better but he’s one voice in the wilderness. When I saw Andy Stern on Obama’s little commission to cut ss I knew we were doomed.

I think we did that already and not enough participated to make a difference.

Seems to me we have plenty of money for wars and bailouts and defense contractors. But not enough for the states or their employees.

Most state workers here can’t even live on their pensions when they retire. Even if they have their 30 years in, they have to work until they are eligible for ss so they can live.

Fat cat pensions is a myth. Pure bull.
