Or they’ve lowered their expectation to the point where they’ve already been met.

The NYT has called the election for Cuomo and Hochul. Teachout and Wu ran a spirited campaign; I hope that they endorse Green candidates Howie Hawkins and Brian Jones against Cuomo and Hochul in the general election.

Rank and file Democrats have nothing to lose. Woe be to the Democratic elected officials who endorse Teachout; Cuomo has quite the reputation for being vindictive.

  • Good old Quid Pro Cuomo! The WFP is in danger of losing ballot status this year. They will lose many of their voters to Howie Hawkins, who is running a considerably stronger campaign than he did in 2010. Cuomo is also creating a sockpuppet party called the Women’s Equality Party to endorse him on a fourth ballot line. Most voters for the Democratic Party just vote on the Democratic ballot line; there is a fairly limited number of voters who want to vote Democratic on pretend third party ballot lines. WFP will have to compete with the Women’s Equality Party for these voters and may very well fall below the 50,000 votes needed to maintain their recognized party status after the election.

  • Well, considering that I still occasionally see complaints about liberals voted for John Anderson in 1980, or even better, stayed home instead of voting for Hubert Humphrey in 1968, I think that it’s safe to say that the Great Satan Ralph Nader will be trotted out by the Dems for many years to come.

  • Get ready for a boatload of LOTE “rationalizations” + heavy-duty finger pointing & vetching if you dare to suggest that HRC is no different from voting for the R-Branch of the Uniparty. I can just hear the “you just expect sparkle ponies that sh*t rainbows” tirading now. siiiighhh….

In 2008, we were told by Obama’s supporters that Clinton had no right being President because of her support for the Iraq war. If you agreed with them in 2008, you were a HERO. If you still agree with them in 2016, you’re just another purist who wants their pony! Go figure.

There’s also a legal question about whether USAID has any mandate to pull this nonsense. Even if we are in Cold War 2.0.

As we have seen repeatedly, that’s of no particular concern to this Administration. Which makes it all the more hilarious when they invoke the law to tell us why they “can’t” do something that the Left wants them to.

Alterman initially refused to appear in any forum with Blumenthal, to discuss or debate the book’s content and subject matter, but has now indicated he might show up “for $10,000 plus expenses, paid in advance.”

I’ll debate you. Gimme $10,000 in advance. Alterman really is a tool, and a very thin-skinned and nasty one at [...]

It sure would be! Terry McAuliffe: A bad idea (though not quite as bad an idea as Ken Cuccinelli) whose time has come.

I’m voting for Sarvis, too. I’m lucky enough to have a progressive independent to support for the House of Delegates this year.

In early October, it was nearly 20 degrees hotter here than normal for almost a week. A few days later, it literally rained continuously for four straight days. The current weather is a huge improvement!

October is my favorite month; I really like hot apple cider at this time of year. Once it gets to be colder, we’re going to Vietnamese restaurants for pho. There is nothing like pho on a cold, rainy day.

Want to type more but kitty says otherwise.

Hi, Phoenix Woman! Autumn has arrived here in Virginia. In the lower elevations, the colors are still kind of patchy. On the higher mountain ridges, it’s getting pretty close to peak colors. I’ve been out hiking on the ridges of Massanutten and Great North Mountains, and plan to get out more in the next few days.

  • It would be illegal to do this kind of collection at facilities in the United States, however, the agency is able to avoid these legal restrictions by “intercepting contact lists from access points ‘all over the world.’” Since none of these points are on US territory, there are no limits to what can be collected and stored.

The agency does not have to restrict its intake to “contact lists belonging to specified foreign intelligence targets.” Anything passing through is assumed to not be from US persons.

Damn, Slick Willie’s reasoning about how he “Did not have sex with that woman” looks downright honest by comparison.

  • Unfortunately, not until 2018. California now has a Top Two primary, which puts only the top two finishers regardless of party in the general election. It’s basically a crapshoot; all sorts of strange things could happen.

According to Posner, the benefits of voting are “elusive”

I’m voting for LArry Yates, who is a progressive independent in a two-way race with a Republican for House of Delegates. It’s a heavily Republican district and I have very little hope of getting the result that I want in November. I’ll know that at least I tried.

One of the main issues that the Arlington Green Party is fighting for is affordable housing. Recently, two of the five Democrats on the County Board put forth a proposal to substantially increase affordable housing funds. If we can elect even one Green to the County Board, we will have a majority for more serious action on affordable housing.

Much of my own state is not exactly San Francisco either. However, the Greens have found that even by running candidates for County Board and School Board in Arlington County, parts of our agenda are adopted by the Democratic Party.
