Jeff Kaye commented on the blog post The Washington Post on the Most Transparent Administration Everâ„¢
While I sympathize with the Washington Post’s sentiments, and agree the Obama administration has been clamping down on transparency/FOIA efforts, I would be more sympathetic if the press would pursue the documents already released and tell the truth therefrom.
The real Truth is the truth is already out there, in 1000s and tens of 1000s of documents released via FOIA and other governmental mechanisms, but reporters refuse to go into the material and analyze them. And then there are the investigations of other countries, whose evidence is fully available to US researchers and the press. But the latter studiously ignore it, whether it’s the Belgian state investigation into NATO subversion of European democracies (its Gladio investigation), the South Korean Truth Commission, showing US puppets in South Korea were involved in mass murders of over 100,000 prior to the North Korean invasion (and in many ways prompting it).
I’ve been involved in some of the FOIA requests and revelations. But the press (and “blogosphere”) too, ignored the DOD IG report revealing that a military unit under Joint Forces Command, was called off tracking Bin Laden, not to mention briefing top officials of expected attacks on the WTC and Pentagon, and that JFC’s Director of Intelligence later censored such material from Congressional investigators.
How surprised will the press be to see that top members of JFC briefed as noted above became leading members of the Intelligence agencies of the United States? If history is any guard, they will ignore or ridicule that fact.
More recently, the press (and “blogosphere” — but not The Dissenter!) has largely done the same in relation to another FOIA’d IG report, this one proving that War on Terror detainees were interrogated while given drugs that even DoD said would interfere with accurate recall, or that some prisoners were made to believe they were taking “truth drugs.”
None of this is really new. The truth, for instance, about U.S. support of terrorists abroad has been in the public record for decades (especially funding and training of anti-Castro terrorists), but it is not mentioned. Also never mentioned was the funding and training of other terrorists and saboteurs aimed as infiltrating the old USSR, China, etc.
It is beholden on every citizen and “Net Denizen” to say the truth, to demand the truth, and to learn for themselves and stop being spoon-fed by a captured Fourth Estate.
