So prices have gone up and that must mean there is a shortage of gasoline. That is the way the market works the neo-classical economists will tell you to infer.

So where are the huge lines of cars waiting at the few stations that have gas? Where are the restrictions on buying only on odd or even days based on your license plate number? Where are the people unable to drive to work because they can’t buy gasoline? Yea, didn’t think so. Everyone can get gas so what does that tell you about the alleged supply shortage.

We need to get the rope and reserve all the lightpoles.

So let’s make sure we get all this right….

Actual living, breathing, human beings (i.e. citizens) voting their economic interests is bad. It is the embodiment of the oligarchs’ fevered fears that “A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.” Of course, when the oligarchy discovers that they can just use their money (much of which is obtained via government contracts, favorable tax policies, and federal reserve handouts) to just buy the entire political and media establishment, well, that is just free market and First Amendment goodness.

Folks, it is long past due that there be a serious market shortage in lightpoles and rope. They are not going to give up power until there is.

This document fraud was not a failure, it was a feature. How were the banks going to assign the same mortgage to multiple tranches of a mortgage backed security if they had to actually provide the assignment documents? They would run the risk of the fraud being discovered if they actually had to deliver the documents to the investment trust. And the real goal of the $25 billion “50 state settlement” with these criminals was to hide this larger criminal enterprise. Sheila Baird knows it and is helping in the cover up by describing it as “sloppiness”. BS. Someone needs to refer Attorney General Holder to a definition of “Rule of Law”.

There really is a potential for a meeting of the minds here.

We have seen this movie before. The 2000 election in Florida was stolen long before the first vote was cast. When Katherine Harris and Jeb Bush purged 94,000 “felons” from the voter roles using a list they were told by the hired consultants would result in thousands of people being wrongly disenfranchised, they got the desired outcome. More than half those purged were African Americans.

The banks are going to pay whatever it takes to hide the massive fraud that took place in securitizing mortgages. All the nasty secrets will be hidden under settlements with state AGs one by one. We are not just talking the fraud involved in selling the mortgages and then foreclosing by means fair and foul. We are talking about the fraud and fee avoidance via MERS. Nobody needs to see the same mortages sold to multiple buyers via CDOs, synthetic CDOs and all the other toxic sludge the banksters conjured out of thin air.

They will settle with the Ags to avoid tumultuous outcry and jail terms if their perfidy were to come to light.

This is all part of the Right’s plan to destroy government’s ability to act on behalf of We The People. What passes for today’s Republicans hope that people will decide that the alternative to bad government is no government. If people do not have faith in our institutions, if the poisonous Limbaugh style cynicism holds sway, then our Republic is dead. People stop voting, people stop participating, people stop making their voices heard, people stop believing they can make a difference. And into this power vacuum the plutocracy and corporatists tighten their grip on the nation’s wealth and levers of power.

They do all this for the same reason they are hell-bent on destroying labor unions: they do not want democracy or the ability of people to collectively decide their futures. Division, dissolution, and destruction. It is nihilistic worldview that will destroy the village in order to loot it.

Yes, it would. Some banks more than others initially, but it would cascade. How much are these banks holding in credit default swaps? The exposure here is not public and could be staggering.

Actually it is run by a criminal sydicate that knows exactly what it is doing. There is still wealth to be looted so we can’t have regulations getting in the way quite yet.

In Europe as in the US, there will be all the money that is necessary to make the banks whole on the reckless loans they made to Greece, et al. They will then foreclose on those countries and loot their water systems, roads, health systems, and cultural treasures just because they can. When the big banks run the central banks, what other outcome can be expected?

Iceland’s people stood up and told the banks to go f**k themselves. That is a precedent that banks cannot allow to be repeated, so all the kabuki in the Eurozone right now is just to confuse people as to the real issues and those that are really responsible for the problem.

It was tried in 2004. 92% of the repatriated money went to dividend increases, executive bonuses, mergers and acquisitions, and stock buy backs. The incentive was established for corporatations to turn around and stash more money offshore and wait for the opportune time for another “one time” tax holiday to be granted. Anyone see how this turns out in the future?

In the era of corporate personhood, I guess this constitutes a murder/suicide to cover everyone’s tracks. This is money laundering straight up. What is to stop a foreign corporation, Saudi prince, or another government from hiding their contributions this way?
