walkinboots commented on the diary post Over Easy: Monday Science by BoxTurtle.
This is a comment I made on another thread … quite a ways back, but that seems pertinent today..
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate each voice, each perspective, and even the edginess. But there are times when said edginess has spilled into something else entirely. When I was a child I had the [...]

Coming, again, out of reader mode, and into commenter mode. I did not read either post as they unfolded on either day. But, in going back and reading them afterward, I experienced a set of emotional responses. In the first post, MiL’s tone was quite indignant … and I would be too if I were [...]

MFI – I am a rare commenter here at FDL, but a daily reader, when I can be. I will miss your words, good and noble sir. I did not see either of the comment threads, but I am deeply shamed that such was ever said. I ask humbly that you accept my words of [...]

walkinboots commented on the diary post Livestock producers are causing MRSA – We now have proof by TobyWollin.
It really is sickening, isn’t it? Total disregard for consequences, as though the effects were *nothing* to be concerned with. I am well past appalled, these days. Not only did the FDA know this, but so too the companies involved. How do any of them sleep at night, I wonder. Thank you for posting this. [...]

I can’t decide if I am more pissed off or depressed in response to the links in the diary, and its much too early to begin drinking.

Well, in rl we can get tongue tied and stumble over a word. (or 5)
Maybe its a digital, typing form of the same thing. My mind definitely goes faster than my hands … even my mouth at times, which is quite remarkable.

That should read “things” not “tings”.

Holy moly, C-S, what a story! I am sincerely sorry that such a series of events unfolded the way that they did. I would have thought I was going crazy, too. I have never met a person, with a fire in their belly for justice, fairness, equality, honesty, or any other thing worth fighting for, [...]

The line, “I am their Leader, where did they go?” comes to mind.

What a heartfelt, moving essay and conclusion to your series, KrisAinTx. My observation point in this theater of the absurd, that apparently we now reside in, has led me to the same conclusion – if this is to change it will be because we, as individuals within the collective, changed our part of the world. [...]

I am usually ‘here’… just don’t comment lest I think I can contribute something of value. And in this company, most points are more eloquently expressed than I could do justice to.

When I got married, bgr, I was totally against the whole thing! LOL. I have been married now for almost 40 years. I placed a ‘rider’ of sorts at the beginning of the church service that went something like this – though the church may bless this union and the state declare it legal, neither [...]

walkinboots commented on the diary post Over Easy: An After-Easter Reflection by msmolly.
Coming out of lurker mode … Good morning. The topic today, as it pertains to the word “with” brings this to mind for me. Its a quote attributed to Gandhi… Seven Dangers to Human Virtue 1). Wealth without work. 2). Pleasure without conscience. 3). Knowledge without character. 4). business without ethics. 5). Science without humanity. [...]

walkinboots commented on the diary post Love’s Bright and Fragile Glow by Isaiah 88.
I suspect, Isaiah88, this is because as a nation, as a culture we view bullying as a means to and end. Viable. Necessary. Economical.
When we address bullying, I wonder, how many other things will be addressed? Just my opinion.

walkinboots commented on the diary post Upon Becoming My Own Earworm by OmAli.
We are looking for a collective tipping point. And each of us can be there, part of that. We must be. I think we must each find a way -a way that no one else can tell us or dictate to us: our own way- to be part of the tipping point. For we have [...]
