Not too long for me, sister. Recommended with appreciation.

Watt Childress commented on the diary post How to Learn to Love the March of Jackboots or… Hear Music Instead [Updated] by wendydavis.
Activist blogging does make some people nervous. But for others, it’s just a matter of familiarity. There are good citizens in my home area who will go out on a street and hold a protest sign in the rain, trying to share their opinions and bring attention to an important issue. Yet they will not [...]

You blow me away, Wendy, again and again. Your satire succeeds in mixing high-octane angst with a cozy Mayberry feel. Makes me want to drive back to that little Colorado town and sit down with a cup of coffee in hopes of surprising you. These days I stay close to home, contributing to my wee [...]

Watt Childress commented on the diary post Smoke…and the Great Social Awakening by wendydavis.
I pray for our human awakening, Wendy. Thank you for your ever-soulful words.
Here’s a poem you might dig, with links in the fourth commment that offer a bubbly political metaphor.

Watt Childress commented on the diary post Inspirational First- and Mexican-American Actions: We Fight the Same Masters of Plunder Now by wendydavis.
The first half does read like a little slice of indigenous history. Perhaps I should have led with the second half, which discusses the unfolding attempt to erase the cultural heritage of people who met Lewis and Clark at the Pacific.

Hi Wendy,
Thank you for continuing to write about indigenous people. Here’s a link to a related topic in the Northwest.

Help turn this moment into a world-wide wave of light.
Yes, every moment. Thought of you and your wending work today while walking on the beach.
Here’s to good words, prayers, and Dr. King.

Watt Childress commented on the diary post Euro Crises Need More than One Size Fits All by Scarecrow.
“Debt enfebblement is the requisite tool for creating an impoverished landscape that invites privatization and deregulation.” Whether intentional or not, this is the foreseeable outcome of current economic policies. In a BBC interview, a Greek housewife said current policies would force her family to endure a London cost-of-living on a Bulgarian income. Citizens are prepped [...]

Choice quote from Carlin. Tells the truth. It also treads the line between hard reality and defeatism.

Your queston applies to the whole planet. For years I’ve heard some fellow citizens insist that the United States is not a democracy, but a constitutional republic.
Of course, the same can be said for the People’s Republic of China.

Financiers who make money on money — the players who now control public policy — appear to have a one-size-fits-all definition of “economic growth”. Differences in how growth is defined and measured are evident in how the proposed austerity measures are viewed. Yet those measures are just part of the picture. I recently returned from [...]

Watt Childress commented on the diary post Capitalism – The China Connection. by cmaukonen.
While recently in Italy I purchased a pair of shoes (one of my only souvenirs during a five-week family trip). They are well-made and beautiful. I have major problems with politicians who get their trade policy orders from China. It also reflects on American retailers when they don’t sell products that are manufactured in free [...]

Much to consider here, Wendy. Recommended.
One thing that comes to mind. I understand there is now concrete data linking air pollution in the Northwest to industrial processes in Asia. Now would be a good time to re-couple U.S. trade policy with shared values — like clean air and worker safety, for example.

Watt Childress commented on the diary post Whats next for the Eurozone ? by cmaukonen.
Recommended. I haven’t combed the mainstream media for reports on the eurozone financial crisis. Maybe I’ve just missed something; but one thing that seems to be lost in the sauce when I read about this mess is a story I hear repeated by people from Ireland, Greece, and elsewhere. About the same time their countries [...]
