Here’s the thing. If we don’t primary Obama, Rahm is right. I’ve contemplated writing Barry-O to convince him to switch parties, you know, finally come out of the closet. But that’s not likely to happen. There are too many suckers in his own party who will vote against Repubs for fear of getting another round of Bush.
So, here’s another thing. The trajectory of Obama’s presidency cannot be distinguished from a theoretical extrapolation of Bush’s. In English, that means we are suffering through Bush III. War, privacy, Habeas, oil, you name it. 2012 as it stands is therefore likely to give us Bush IV regardless of whether Obama or some unnamed Repub is elected.
We shouldn’t want to play at this anymore. We shouldn’t give Rahm the opportunity to gloat.
