Yeah, CIA and the deep state NGOs.

I was entirely aware of that, Miss Grundy; don’t need no red marks from your red pen. Guess they’ll see if it works or not. I like it, even if it’s a bit complicated.

An excerpt from a VOR link that Ian Welsh put up a week or so ago:

“Rosneft has recently signed a series of big contracts for oil exports to China and is close to signing a “jumbo deal” with Indian companies. In both deals, there are no US dollars involved. Reuters reports, that Russia is close to entering a goods-for-oil swap transaction with Iran that will give Rosneft around 500,000 barrels of Iranian oil per day to sell in the global market. The White House and the russophobes in the Senate are livid and are trying to block the transaction because it opens up some very serious and nasty scenarios for the petrodollar. If Sechin decides to sell this Iranian oil for rubles, through a Russian exchange, such move will boost the chances of the “petroruble” and will hurt the petrodollar.

It can be said that the US sanctions have opened a Pandora’s box of troubles for the American currency. The Russian retaliation will surely be unpleasant for Washington, but what happens if other oil producers and consumers decide to follow the example set by Russia? During the last month, China opened two centers to process yuan-denominated trade flows, one in London and one in Frankfurt. Are the Chinese preparing a similar move against the greenback? We’ll soon find out.”

Did some Giggling back then, and there have been some attempts to deal in rubles since 2006. The Iranians never did establish their own oil bourse…

Samizdat, then; w should not whitewash history, imo, because it serves the current MSM counter-narrative. ‘The enemy of my enemy’ meme as per long US FP should not be rewritten to serve the current bullshit afoot. It would be a disservice to those who lived and suffered under many Soviet regimes.

“Who elected the US/West to be the policeman of the world?”

Not elected, but self-appointed. In this case, some are Cold Warrior neocons, Bush Doctrine ramped up immeasurably via Obomba. Other than that, the authors are the multinational corporatists, Monsanto and Condi Chevron, whose co. didn’t get much out of Iraq (Libya? Too soon to say, yes?) and the new and improved and *wiley* Monsanto, pre-positioning for EU markets, and Cargill (JP Sottile did some good diggin’, bless his li’l heart): In homage to the late great Molly Ivins: ‘The Business of America Is Giving Countries Like Ukraine the Business’.

Aaaaand the folks who really wanna control the pipeline spigots… Or is that too cynical? :-)

Russia id not ‘invade Crimea’, Des. But I do realize we are not on the same page. Stalin? Probably, as I said upstream, that informs even the Russian-speaking, which is why they might support federalization in some form, rather than living under a NATO flag buttressed by IMF austerity loans. All that money seems slated to go the bondholders, but what do I know? :)

Nice to see you, by the way.

Another NGO conglomerate with an agenda has been busy in Ukraine, too: ‘FIDO and General Wes Clark in Ukraine: US Advisors on the Ground, Deadly Messenger’ 9cryptome link to their advice for aiding the puppet govt. with ‘nonlethal weaponry’).

    What will NATO/US do next?

Au contraire, Knox. Few have any illusions about Putin, but at least he’s a rational bastard, not a hegemonic loose cannon.

And some folks in Crimea envision federalism, not a ‘return to Mother Russia’, given their knowledge of life under Stalin and others, but ‘choice’ is not aided by the Imperium’s meddling, financing, and underwriting a putch, or series of them.

Your question is more relevant, lefttown, even as Putin said in his live Q and A that the diplomatic meeting may be important, it’s down to the folks in Crimea to choose a future. Sure, he does propaganda well, but at least he seems to have ‘all his marbles’. :-)

Plenty of pithy lines in there, eh? To say the truth, I don’t see teevee corporate news, but online I usually click into the Guardian for world news, and check around the web for some confirmation bias reporting. ;-) They cite ginning up ‘ethic’ divisiveness, but I’d add class as well, as does wsws.org Both are [...]

I thought if I waited until morning I might be able to see the print in these long comments more clearly: not really. The Guardian says: “…but accounts differ”. Ya think? And at juiliania: I hope you’re right. Putin has played it well so far, but if NATO smells weakness… Weird place to be, knowing that Putin’s a bastard, but glad he’s at least a *rational* bastard. He did a live Q and A by big screen on [...]
