  • wheaties commented on the diary post David Brooks Says I Don’t Exist! by Dean Baker.

Don’t kid yourself, they know you exist, they just want to pretend otherwise. The New York Times isn’t laying off staff, and cutting back, because people are paying up to read what delusional tools like David Brooks and Tom Friedman think. The conversation is changing. It is increasingly taking place at FDL, Naked Capitalism, Angry [...]

What ideals would Tim be talking about? I love how clueless American Elites are. Would those ideals include illegal wars, detentions, killings, 40+ million Americans on food stamps, millions without healthcare, millions unemployed? What f@&%*&^ country is this guy talking about??

Great post and great photos! The problem I have with Hickenlooper is that he is part of the problem. He’s a guy who made a fortune with his brewery in LoDo largely because of a government funded ball park. I wonder also how much he pays his employees, is it a working wage? Hickenlooper is [...]

  • I stopped reading James Fallows when he wrote and article about how our trade policy with China was “working” for both America and China. It was ridiculous, elitist, nonsense. Our current trade policy has never worked for most Americans and it’s still not working. Yes, we are having the wrong conversation, but we need to broaden it to address the failed neoliberal ideology that has led us here.

We are so far from that point it is laughable. When you have Matt Yglesias and others on the so called “left” side of the blogosphere defending neoliberal policies you know how desperate the situation is.

His approval numbers on education should be just as bad. His continuation of high stakes testing and war on teachers has the stench of his failed neoliberal ideology all over them. The man is pathetic. He is a narcissist setting himself up for a big pay out when he leaves office. The man is following the same road to riches Slick Willy did, they are both frauds.

Well done Jane. My god, the false equivalency that Ed tried to throw out at the end was pathetic. Do any of these talking heads have a back bone, or core values? This nation is run by sell-outs.

  • I honestly believe that Obama is now operating as a megalomaniac. He knows his chances for reelection get smaller by the day (jobs report) so he is now focusing on “his” chance to make something out of his pathetic term. He sees deficit reduction as his shot at the history books. I maybe wrong, but someone please explain to me his double down on cutting the deficit in the economic environment we are now in.

Great diary. Your right on the mark of course. The question going through my mind is how dysfunctional and deluded have these people been since day one? If we look at the compromises and outright failures of this administration given the challenges facing this country, Obama and his administration have been a stunning failure.

  • Schumer’s a Wall Street hack, nothing more. He throws bread crumbs at the base so they won’t notice that he is the same guy that fought tax increases for hedge fund managers and promotes free trade deals that benefit people in the labor arbitrage business. He’s as useless and duplicitous as Bill Clinton.

  • Obama does know he is the President, right? What exactly is he going to run on next time? How he fought for the middle class? How he fought for a system of affordable health care? He is in for the fight of his life for a second term. Mr. President, pretty speeches do not fill up the dinner plates! The only reason he has a chance is because the Republicans are nuts. If he were up against Teddy Roosevelt or Dwight Eisenhower he would get his clock cleaned.

  • He’s done. He will continue on his fools errand of bipartisanship, history books will judge him harshly. The country was at a tipping point when he was elected, Americans were screaming for something dramatically different. His entire term looks like nothing more than an internship for the nations biggest corporations and banks.
