Why do they spare Elena Teyer? Tell me.

    No, it’s not.

Interesting move by the defense. That’s against the “lunatic fringes” – we talked about them – but also the media who convert serious protesters into lunatic fringes. Remarkably, the Teyer incident ist not addressed. Karin Friedemann’s dispute with Fucarile is mentioned via press reports, but she never advocated staged bombings and injuries. I don’t know [...]

You’re welcome lc. It’s relieving to joke in these times of darkness.

Yep, that’s what I think. The Blue Runner photo is also grainy and blurry. No official FBI photo, but ennobled by Chief DEsLauriers himself (in the ABC documentary).

Nobody’s talking about “reason”. I was asking about common practice.

The center isle was reserved for these people but was by no means full and in fact the media eventually occupied around half of this area.

Mmmmh… that’s why I’m asking. The other woman was Karen Brassard btw. She was at the first bomb site. She was injured by shrapnel, but lost no limb. Media report up to eight victims, but they seem to be less prominent (and less affected), that’s probably why you didn’t identify them as such. So with [...]

One question to Jane and all: is it common practice that the defendant and the victims in a felony case attend the final pretrial conference?

So much for the theory that Clarke and Bruck being the “speakers” of the defense (with Conrad staying in the background) indicates a pure mitigation strategy. What a nonsense. To me this is just division of labor. Everybody does what he can do best. Clarke and Bruck are used to represent their clients to the [...]

Why is it that these FBI photos are the most blurry, dark, unrecognizable pictures from the bomb site which are available? Have they no better ones? Additionally, they are redacted. Doesn’t enhance their authenticity, really.

Thank you for going into detail Jane, and it confirms what I wanted to know anyway: she didn’t “yell” or “scream”, but spoke loudly, or raised her voice, as you describe it. Which shows her actual intention – not to cause a scandal, but to make sure that her message reached DT.

The same for me. The one thing is about civil rights, which should also be enjoyable to terrorists. But I wouldn’t spend hours, days and months to demand civil rights for them. This is about much more. This is maybe the biggest injustice in US legal history (I’m no historian, though) – accusing an innocent [...]

Thank you for sharing. The reason I wanted to have this incident public is first – it has *not* been reported by any MSM so far, instead they turned to Elena Teyer, which is quite encouraging. It might indicate that the media are sitting on the fence already, with the exception of the Boston Herald [...]

and lc@126 One reason for the defense’s silence might also be that they are not allowed to speak about the case publicly and that the pros will exploit even the slightest remark to demand consequences. The government would certainly love to legally pursue the lawyers or to force them to quit the case. That being [...]

Bruck once indicated that there might be no penalty phase at all.

    What does this tell us?

The courtroom may be not the best place for such an outburst. But it was the only possible way and occasion to “contact” him. I think for DT in his dull everyday life this was a nice experience that will reverberate in his memory for a long time. and lw@109 – that the MSM could [...]

Masses of courtroom attendees all over the country suddenly feel inclined to shout out after a courtroom session. What a terrifying nightmare. Worse than an orc army.

You need to restrain your fantasy. And to downplay your rigorism.

You’re arguing legally, she acted morally.

Sometimes – often, in dictatorships for instance – morality beats legality. In this incident definitely.
