YesIllKeepMyDayJob wrote a new diary post: Wrongful Gun Death Compensation Fund
Cases like the tragic death of Trayvon Martin really highlight the need for something to be done about the extraordinary number of gun related deaths in this country. Given how awash the country is in guns and the political impotence there is in putting controls on them, we need alternative strategies at dealing with this [...]

Wait, Wyoming will study what it would take to acquire an aircraft carrier? Maybe a whole lotta global warming? Either that or Lake Yellowstone would be very well defended.

Thanks for the clarification – it’s nice to know (in some sense) to know exactly how this will stink.

YesIllKeepMyDayJob commented on the diary post Romney/Santorum Ticket? by Bobbylon.
After the shots Romney has taken in the primaries thus far, and especially if the economy keeps getting better, a women might seem like a plausible choice as a way of getting R’s excited. But it will have to be one who is an up-and-coming favorite of the base that doesn’t trust Romney, like Haley [...]

YesIllKeepMyDayJob commented on the blog post Mitt Romney Wins Big in Nevada Caucus
The low turnout may have been a feature, not a bug. Seems like things were designed to help make a completely unrepresentative sample come to pass. Ah, the age-old question: evil or stupid?

Ah, the story of Congress, summed up in a scientific experiment.
Actually, they did this experiment with fish – so let me apologize to the fish.

YesIllKeepMyDayJob commented on the diary post Silly Idea #6,225: Let’s Have a $38,000 per plate Fund-Raiser for Obama’s reelection, payable in monopoly money by metamars.
$38,000 is such a large number, I doubt if anyone actually has that much in genuine monopoly money. I think you need to just let attendees draw their own bills – preferably with pictures of some American royalty on there: e.g. a Bush or a Clinton or a Koch (or maybe some corporate person!). Then [...]

YesIllKeepMyDayJob commented on the diary post Citizens United Revisited – It may Re-elect Obama by Bin Quick.
Interesting. In some ways Citizen United is good in that it makes the political corruption that had been there all along (lobbyist revolving doors, behind the scenes corporate influence, etc) visible in broad daylight to even the most low information voter. At this point, hopefully SCOTUS will take C.U. to it’s logical conclusion and overturn [...]

YesIllKeepMyDayJob wrote a new diary post: Light Amusement
I thought some might enjoy a parody of a republican debate. Of course, most of it isn’t all that funny as the real candidates already provide self-parody. But Mike Tyson (!) as Herman Cain and Obama’s debate response are worth viewing.

YesIllKeepMyDayJob commented on the diary post Disappointed Doesn’t Cut It Anymore: A Mother’s Rebuttal of President Obama’s Plan B Politics by RHRealityCheck.
I certainly was as stunned by anybody by this, against my own better judgment, that the Pres would stoop to this level. It’s one thing to slap around mouthy liberals who want to support you but have no where else to go, but quite another to alienate more than half of the people who elected [...]

YesIllKeepMyDayJob commented on the diary post The Occupy Sites The National Media Won’t Tell You About by Phoenix Woman.
I saw Occupy Martinez, CA in front of the union hall on the main drag in town. 10 high-energy people there (one with bullhorn) and no problems: the only ruckus they were causing were motorists honking in support of them.

YesIllKeepMyDayJob commented on the diary post A Potent Illustration of the Problem With Our Country by inoljt.
Nice post. This has been something really bothering me too – no consequences for failure/incompetence. This is, long-term, self-defeating for Wall Street – might be a good thing in a way (except that they are even too-bigger to fail now). But it’s not surprising that the media hasn’t picked up on this – there is [...]

YesIllKeepMyDayJob wrote a new diary post: But Often Class Warfare Really is About the Money
The careful, cautious Malcolm Gladwell takes a look at the NBA lockout . And even he is disgusted (and his view expands from there):
One of the great forgotten facts about the United States is that not very long ago the wealthy weren’t all that wealthy. Up until the 1960s, the gap between rich and poor in the [...]

YesIllKeepMyDayJob wrote a new diary post: Paul Krugman, disguised as a woman, new head of the IMF
Totally crazy person speaking at the big econ to-do in Jackson Hole, WY:
The U.S. and the euro-zone must take radical steps to get their economies and the global recovery out of the “dangerous phase,” Christine Lagarde, the new chief of the International Monetary Fund, said Saturday. … In the U.S., Lagarde said that the Obama administration [...]

YesIllKeepMyDayJob commented on the diary post Wisconsin Judge cops to battery and is granted temporary insanity pass without going to jury by Rex.
Has anyone in the media in WI dug into this guys past by reading the local police blotter where he has lived? It almost seems like a sure thing they’d find some domestic visits to him by the police. He seems to have serious rage/women/… problems. Of course, maybe nothing would happen to him even [...]

YesIllKeepMyDayJob commented on the diary post It Is Time to Embrace Tea Party Members. by Robert Alexander Dumas.
At this point in my late political education, it does seem like we may as well try to unite with as many well-meaning people on the “right” as possible – it would certainly be refreshing to get to a point where a liberal vs libertarian debate actually meant something rather than being window-dressing for power-players [...]

I realize his emptiness has been beaten to a pulp on this already, but it’s worth going all out to put it in black and white (from various sources – nothing really new below) for future reference because you just know someone will mumble it again. The famous mega-pastor and author of The Porpoise Drivel Life [...]

YesIllKeepMyDayJob commented on the diary post The unreality only deepens by oldionus.
And after that public speech, in private, Obama should vaguely signal to the Repo Men how he’s going to accomplish keeping our debt unquestioned – by paying all T-bill interest, retiring old debt with new debt, and then cutting gov’t services/offices in all the Pub districts that he has no chance of winning in 2012. [...]
