• Alan, Thanks for the information. I didn’t realize the depth of the democratic party’s and unions’ involvement in disempowering the recall movement though I hardly find it surprising. I definitely agree with the general gist of your post. P.S. Some advice to help you become a more effective writer: try to break up some of [...]

Potentially an excellent development if Hollande sticks to his guns and actually has the audacity to represent the country’s and the French people’s best interests instead of the international oligarch’s.

And you can’t legislate murder, so why bother making laws against it since no matter how many laws you have there are always going to be people that are going to kill people. So, what can you do …

I hate that saying: “You can’t regulate against greed”. You can regulate against people using immoral means to serve their greed. Laws are, in part, supposed to reflect our moral values and that’s the framework of any legal system: what your society believes is right and what is wrong. And when you pass on regulating [...]

Maybe becoz they are not representing us and therefore are not truly making mistakes, but instead are making calculated decisions that benefit them and their sponsors. The only way to defend that is to try to convince us that what they are doing is really in the best interests of the country becoz to admit [...]

“The problem is that DOJ and SEC bureaucrats think Wall Street is a bunch of decent people, polished up in pretty clothes and offering helpful information.”

I don’t think so … they are not that naive. No, they think wall street will provide them with high paying jobs as long as they play along with them in their roles as “regulators” and that’s why they are so deferential to wall street.

Most everything on that list had nothing to do with any congressional action whatsoever:

    1. Recklessly drone bombing innocent civilians in foreign countries
    2. obama’s do”j”‘s war on whistle blowers
    3. obama’s claim of the right to kill u.s. citizens with no trial
    4. obama actually killing u.s. citizens with no trial, no charges
    5. obama’s refusal to even layout what set of circumstances he believes that he has the right to kill u.s. citizens without a trial … what limitations he puts on that, if any
    6. The total awareness surveillance state now in place and growing by the day that even bush backed down on
    7. obama’s policy of drone bombing funerals and rescuers in the aftermath of his reckless drone bombings that purportedly target terrorists
    8. obama going to war with libya without congressional approval
    9. u.s. customs people seizing u.s. citizens’ laptops at the borders, of citizens that have broken no law but only have spoken out about the tyranny of our government
    10. And it is his do”j” that has refused to go after any of the wall street bankster bigwigs

    Furthermore:
    A. it was obama who insisted that u.s. citizens NOT be exempt from indefinite detention in that recent detention bill. HE ASKED FOR THE SENATE TO NOT EXEMPT U.S. CITIZENS FROM INDEFINITE DETENTION
    B. it was the obama administration that drove the retroactive immunity given to the banks in the state ag settlement that lets the banks off for criminal conduct (see: robo-signing AKA FRAUD amongst other crimes) and had them pay a pittance of the damage they’ve caused due to their fraud.

Again, there is not one thing in that list that you can blame on anyone but obama SO QUIT MAKING EXCUSES FOR HIM.

I’d like for us to stop recklessly drone bombing innocent civilians in foreign countries, I’d like to have obama rescind his war on whistle blowers, I’d like to have him at the very fucking least inform us as to what set of circumstances he believes that he has the right to kill u.s. citizens without a trial, I’d like for him to rescind the retroactive immunity that he gave the banks in the state ag settlement that he very much pushed that lets the banks off for criminal conduct and has them pay a pittance of the damage they’ve caused due to their fraud, I’d like for the total awareness state surveillance of the subjects of this country to stop that even bush wasn’t able to institute, I’d like for his drone bombing not to target funerals and rescuers, I’d like for him to work on a new detention bill that rescinds some of the shit in the one he signed recently in which he insisted that u.s. citizens NOT be exempt from indefinite detention, I’d like for him to state that he does not have the right to start wars without congressional approval, I’d like for the u.s. customs people to stop seizing laptops at the borders of u.s. citizens that have broken no law but only have spoken out about the tyranny of our government, and I’d like for him to go after the wall street criminals criminality instead of only going after their campaign contributions.

That’s just some of the things that I’d like to see him undo that he’s already done, but I guess that’s all crying to you …

I’d be somewhat content just to simply get our civil liberties back to where they were before he came into office … you know the ones that he took from us, many of which he seized all by himself and which those evil republicans had jackshit to do with.

  • David,

I got a lot of respect for you as a reporter …. you got a hell of a work rate and the quality of your work has been outstanding.

    Z

  • I don’t know why you think it is incoherent, but I’ll spell it out a little slower for you: most SO-CALLED liberals/progressives will support … make excuses for … obama no matter what the hell he does (and if you think that most SO-CALLED liberals/progressives have similar views as the majority of folks that post on this blog, then I don’t think that you are capable of understanding what I’m trying to convey no matter how slow I go). I certainly don’t see any movement against him from any SO-CALLED progressive groups even though if a republican did them they’d be marching on the streets and protesting right now. And the democrats in congress would also be putting up a lot more resistance to the things that obama has been able to get them to go along with if a republican president tried them.

So, since romney and obama have very similar agendas: dutifully representing the 1%’s interests, why would the 1%ers want romney over obama if obama is more effective at furthering their goals? So, it’s in the interests of the 1%ers to get the democratic base all pissed off and energize them … something that is lacking from the base so far compared to 2008 … to help obama win the election … which helps themselves.
