Precisely. obama wasn’t misled … appointing summers and emanuel wasn’t some sort of passive mistake he made with good intentions, despite what this particular writer often implies about obama. Everyone in dc knew what these people were about … f’ing rahm was a congressman from obama’s state! … and there is no way that obama [...]

  • obama is doing this becoz he wants to reduce the deficit.

Exactly! And of course the silicon valley firms are lobbying big-time too to raise the h1b annual limits from 65K to 115K. And the corporate media just keeps spouting out their bullshit about a lack of u.s. born skilled workers without any stats or opposing opinions whatsoever. There is no shortage of skilled workers in the u.s., just a shortage of what our rulers want to pay us.

  • And I don’t think many … or any … did. He’s been that bad.

    Z

  • I never voted for obama, but in 2008 I also did not think that he would be as bad as he has been.

  • You can’t wake people up with intellectual arguments. They believe what they believe and are sensitive to anything you say that threatens their tenuous emotional hold on their beliefs.

That’s the same exact conclusion that I’ve come to. I was naive to think that people actually want to know the truth – they don’t, they want to be told that they are right. And our rulers know and exploit the fact that once they can get an americanus erectus to believe something then the subject will almost always fight to hold onto that belief even when proven wrong becoz … gasp … to give it up would mean they they would have to admit that they were wrong. Childish, but true …

  • I know this sounds horrible and bitter, but this is exactly what I saw in 2008, and I got hell when I tried to wake people up.

Sounds a lot like my experiences. I had made friends … who I thought were only coincidentally democrats … that were against the war and all the other horrible shit that bush was doing, but since 2008 I’ve found that it wasn’t the acts, it was perpetrator that meant the most to them – in essence the same things, or even lesser things, that they so self-righteously railed against bush for doing, was a-ok, or certainly excusable becoz it was the nasty republicans fault for forcing their exalted one into doing them, when obama did them. I’ve redefined a lot of my relationships the past 4 or so years.

I also saw a lot of that shallow, substance-free self-congratulations in 2008 for voting in a black man as president.

  • Nader voted for obama? Are you sure about that? I didn’t get that from the article or the post you referenced.

    Z

  • Yeah, I know … like I said he is often more bluster than bite. He has disappointed me on a lot of different things. I used to hold in much higher regards.

    Z

  • You say wimpy, I say corrupt.

    Z

  • Yea, I’m real surprised … and suspicious … that van hollen of all dc dem whores is speaking out against austerity. Not sure if that is a good development and maybe he is concerned about the party’s prospects in the mid-terms or this is just a head fake to tamper down the resistance to force feeding of catfood to grannie and co.

  • The dems standing up to the head pr man of the establishment is an unexpected and delightful development. Hopefully, this keeps moving in the right direction. I have to give Bernie Sanders … a senator who at times blusters more than he bites … some credit for standing strong on this and really acting as an anchor for this movement against obama, who oh, so desperately wants to fuck over grannie and keep the petey petersons of the world happy so that will make him unfathomably rich once he leaves office.

    Hey game-changer,

What exactly have you’ve been so effective at doing besides typing obama-apologetic missives? Huh? Do you fantasize that you led obama to victory in 2012? Wake up, dude … you’re nothing but a democratic party partisan hack. You’ve changed no one’s mind becoz you don’t have the intellectual power … or the facts … to do so. The only people that take you serious are folks that are just looking to reaffirm what they already believe.

The senate dems need cover for their actions in helping to effectuate legislation which blatantly conflicts with the interests of their idiotic base, the fools who are so anxious to blame everything on those meanie, unreasonable republicans – who are indeed terrible in their own right – instead of also on the people they vote for and help put in office.

Watching the head pr man of the establishment trying to burnish his credentials with his base while he is oh so un-coincidentally in the midst of his maniacal quest to cut ss is enough to nauseate me.

But the vast majority of demo-zombies will fall for it becoz they want to. It makes them feel good about themselves and morally superior to the other side. And that’s their most enduring principle. If obama can feed that, then he can damn there do anything without their opposition.

The tension just keeps building in the world though … economically, environmentally, socially, etc. … and I agree with this poster that this situation could be the thing that throws it all out of our rulers’ control. Eventually, cold reality intercedes into the wishes of even the most powerful.

I have no way of knowing obviously, but I wouldn’t doubt that China is encouraging the new North Korean leader to embellish his wild card act. They can’t be too happy with our rulers trying to box them out of Asian trade with that piece of trash free trade act that our head pr man [...]
