What’s wrong with Obama? He seems intelligent, literate and clever by half. Young, successful beyond his dreams (or at least I hope so), and seemingly with the world by the ass. And yet…
He seems to lack empathy. Perhaps he should spend some time actually on a battlefield, looking at the remains of a poor village. Listening to the cries of grieving parents. Smelling the carnage. Maybe even actually having Cindy Sheehan "over for a beer." A bus tour of the small towns of America. Christ anything that might facilitate a connection at the human level.
He really couldn’t have understood all those painful letters from the sick, dying and care giving and then pushed single-payer and something like a Medicare buy-in off the table. Where was the sense of urgency? I feel your pain, but wait four years?
The guy could have done anything in his first ninety days, including health and financial reform. It was his 911 moment. But now, when things are sort of back to "business as usual" (they aren’t really, but that’s the perception), everything is some sort of compromised battle. Financial reform has to be the no-brainer of the year. Care to guess what it will end up looking like? Why wasn’t it done when the banks were asking for bailouts?
I really don’t get it.

See you misunderstand, this is what Obama wanted from day 1, this was the deal he cut with the industries.

Politically Obama gets it. Very few voters actually vote for issues other wise democrats would actually vote for Kucinich and not Obama. People vote for persoanlities and to feel part of a group. I think his cynicism comes through most profoundly with his feigned concern for Natoma Canfield, the person to whom he is dedicating his health insurance reform legislation. Now, apparently, Natoma will be able to purchase insurnace in a special exchange group composed of people with pre-existing conditions, since a ban on pre-exisiting conditions won’t take effect until 2014. Now, I don’t know what planet BO is from, but on this insurance controled one, that special insurance is going to be very difficult for Natoma to afford, especially with her mounting debt for the part the insurance won’t pay for to begin with. But, hey, by the time people realize that BOs plan doesn’t really help them afford health insurance, he’ll be skipping merrily toward the end of his 2nd term, much in the way GW did.
He went to Kucinich’s back yard. He should have tak’en a PUBLIC OPTION with him.
Obama knew exactly what he was doing when he sold everybody down the river. What’s there not to get?

The funny part is he fully expects to get away with it and get another 4 yrs. for this piece of crap. Like any good crime boss he has also made sure every other Dem. has his fingerprints on it as well and will now be forced to play along in this charade till the end, since now they’re all complicit. He’s probably right. i know a lot of very smart people who have been fooled by this whole song and dance. Why? because , they want to be. They don’t want to have to face up to what we all elected. It’s to horrifying to face the ugly sinister truth right in front of us.
Barack Obama is a Republican who could never win that party’s nomination. But, he could win ours. And we let him after he failed one liberal litmus test after another. It was the left that was too weak to secure our compound.
